Kim Davis released the following statement a few days ago:
I have worked in the Rowan County Clerks office for 27 years as a Deputy Clerk and was honored to be elected as the Clerk in November 2014, and took office in January 2015. I love my job and the people of Rowan County. I have never lived any place other than Rowan County. Some people have said I should resign, but I have done my job well. This year we are on track to generate a surplus for the county of 1.5 million dollars.
In addition to my desire to serve the people of Rowan County, I owe my life to Jesus Christ who loves me and gave His life for me. Following the death of my godly mother-in-law over four years ago, I went to church to fulfill her dying wish. There I heard a message of grace and forgiveness and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I am not perfect. No one is. But I am forgiven and I love my Lord and must be obedient to Him and to the Word of God.
I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with Gods definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience. It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and Gods Word. It is a matter of religious liberty, which is protected under the First Amendment, the Kentucky Constitution, and in the Kentucky Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Our history is filled with accommodations for peoples religious freedom and conscience. I want to continue to perform my duties, but I also am requesting what our Founders envisioned that conscience and religious freedom would be protected. That is all I am asking. I never sought to be in this position, and I would much rather not have been placed in this position. I have received death threats from people who do not know me. I harbor nothing against them. I was elected by the people to serve as the County Clerk. I intend to continue to serve the people of Rowan County, but I cannot violate my conscience.
+1
[I havent led a perfect life]
OK, I’m gonna have to take you off that darn pedestal!
I Stand With Kim Davis!
And, I might add, I’m not going to blast any candidate for their stance on this issue. Whatever the outcome, is God’s plan - they can all spout off and people will take sides. I refuse to do that. My prayers are with Kim and not a politician in this matter.
“I am Spartacus” .... “I am Kim Davis” .... I guess that at this point the Rev. Franklin Graham and his $ 800,00 annual salary will call for yet another gutless prayer meetings ....
God bless!!!!......I’ve been praying for her protection in jail.
She shouldn’t be in jail.
...but in this day wrong is right, and right is wrong.
We live in perilous times.
May God have mercy.
I suggest you be very careful when criticizing one of God’s servants - especially Franklin Graham. He and his dad are 2 of the most upright ministers out there - they open their books to public scrutiny - unlike many other ministers. The Bible has much to say about what we say about God’s servants. Be very careful!
Just like Paul before her, Kim Davis is fighting the good fight.
She is handling this just as Jesus and the apostles would: without any hatred for those who wish to destroy her and with complete obedience to God’s word.
Amen.
For those who say she shouldn’t have a job that violates her beliefs, think about this... those folks are essentially saying Christians cannot be probate judges or clerks.
The left is beginning a slow purge of Christianity from government.
Hillary Clinton Response to arrest..."Officials should be held to their duty to uphold the lawend of story"
Can you please respect what this thread is about..!!!!!!!
....and save your animus for another time!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can imagine, she is now up there for all to throw stones at her past sins and mock her. She is paying dearly for those sins but she is trying to sin no more and I will pray for her. Wouldn't it be a worse sin to go along with homosexual marriage and act as if it's all OK and not warn them of the sin that they wish to commit? She must be doing what she feels led to do because surely nobody would want their past sins out there for the world to mock.
I grew up in a crazy secular home & did crazy things in my younger days -- not too sinful or self-destructive, but crazy nevertheless. Judaism not only put the fear of God in me, but the sense of reality. (Both are the same.) Also, I grew to recognize, and appreciate, the Judeo-Christian foundation of this nation.
People who accuse this woman of hypocrisy refuse to see the whole picture. Ironically, an ex-convict -- someone with a jail record who is trying to re-enter society & lead a moral, responsible life -- would be accorded more respect by liberals than she.
A conservative is often defined as a liberal who was mugged. Some people learn from their mistakes & move on. A confirmed liberal doesn't.
Anyway, Jim, you took all of words right of my mouth.
“all of the” (batting zero today)
Well why in the wild, wild, west did W appoint him??
We are seeing the beginnings of this in the once great Republic of the United States.
Thank you, a good Christian woman who honors Jesus Christ.
We all know where this is heading, Pastors and Priests who refuse to officiate same sex weddings and churches that refuse to hold SS weddings. Imprisonment, loss of tax status, loss of job or business. Now we get to stand with our Lord and I say, “yes Lord, hallelujah!”
For Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power, Yours is the glory, forever amen!
