Trump Gets Dinged in Interview for Not Knowing Much About Who’s Who in the Middle East
Slate Magazine ^ | Sept. 3, 2015 | Elliot Hannon

Donald Trump found himself briefly cornered during a call-in radio interview on Thursday. The presidential candidate was a guest on the The Hugh Hewitt Show when conservative host Hugh Hewitt began examining the real estate magnate’s foreign policy chops. Trump seemed to know something was coming, as Hewitt has a nose for generating news (most recently by asking Republican candidates if they would attend a gay wedding), but it was not a flattering exchange for Trump, who confessed to gaping holes in his foreign policy understanding.

Trump managed to emerge only slightly bloodied from the interview and the damage was contained largely thanks to Hewitt’s willingness to move on as Trump grasped for answers or provided patently absurd ones. At one point, Trump assured Hewitt: “I will be so good at the military, your head will spin.”

The back-and-forth began with Hewitt, who will co-moderate the upcoming GOP debate on CNN, asking not just about the Iran deal—but specifically the response of Qassim Suleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards. Hewitt asked if Trump knew who Suleimani was. Trump obviously didn’t, so Hewitt described him as “running the Quds forces.” Trump responded with an unfortunate assessment of the treatment of the Kurds.

So, I should "ding" Trump because he doesn't know the name of some butt munching pedophile bastard? So long as he presses the red button on the buggerer, I'm good.

The whole Trump thing may be a tempest in a teapot. I have not seen a second story on it but he met with a Latino group recently to reassure them on his nuanced “gang only” deportations. As he evolves into just another nuanced BS politician Trump becomes his own worst enemy. Like all other GOP before him the enemedia begins to affect them. They all forget the old “dance with the one that brung ya”.

That's true. Every single one is a gamble. What's new?

We can always stay home again. Or roll the dice on a proposition bet and go for a real win.

Hewitt loves playing these stupid gotcha games trying to prove how smart he is when in all actuality all he proves is he is Mizz Kelly’s long lost cousin.

All the players, with few exceptions, in the Middle East are dirty in one way or another. The factions are endlessly confusing. That is why any future President, whether Trump or not, hires experts to sort out the less bad guys from the worse guys

Hugh Hewitt’s question was pretty stupid...this kind of question is never asked of Democrats. Carly Fiorina was most likely given the answers in advance.

Like I posted the other day, I suspect next Nov. what it is gonna come down to is Trump vs. Hillary. They will both be tyrannical dictators worse even than the Klown. We might just be able to use Trump to turn the country’s “Overton Window” back to the right a ways and then a Cruz could reintroduce the Constitution. Even the libtards would go for that after a few years of Trump, I bet.

Frankly I think that scenario is less likely, Hillary that is. She does look damaged, at least as damaged as Kerry looked and was. They went with Kerry and he lost by 3 million. I don't see them making that mistake again. I think Trump vs Biden is most likely at this very early date.

If it is Trump, the best scenario I see is him appointing between 4 and 6 Justices. And if that first appointment is Ted Cruz I would be so thrilled because he is the most Constitutional of the group with no-on even a distant second.

The only wish I have is that he could somehow convince Roberts to resign ( there is nothing prohibiting this ) for the good of the country. Cruz as Chief Justice would be the single greatest appointment in history. Trump's legacy would be assured. He should get Sainthood.
