Federal Judge Says He’s Above Natural Law as He Tosses Clerk Kim Davis in Jail [terrifying quote]
PJ Media ^ | 9/3/15 | Scott Ott

Posted on 09/03/2015 5:41:30 PM PDT by markomalley

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. She’s an elected official, and can’t be fired except by voters in her county, so a federal judge had her thrown in jail today. I expected as much. Any true civil-disobedience act must come with the willingness to bear the legal consequences of your extra-legal behavior. Davis politely thanked the judge before being carted off to the clink.

If it were me, I also would have submitted to the governing authority, but not without a resounding “SAY WHAT, YOUR HONOR?!” after he said this…

“The idea of natural law superceding [sic] this court’s authority would be a dangerous precedent indeed,” U.S. District Judge David L. Bunning told Rowan County clerk Kim Davis.

Actually, your honor, the sovereignty of natural law over man-made authority is a founding principle — a starting point of the underlying political theory — of our constitutional republic. These United States separated from the British monarchy because we were entitled to by “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,” and not subservient to the alleged divine right of kings, nor to an imperious Parliament.

We ordained and established a Constitution of enumerated powers, not of general legislative authority, and “We, the People” gave Congress authority to legislate only within the powers granted in the Constitution. The rest belongs to the states, to the people and, obviously, to the great lawmaker and judge of us all.

Not only does natural law supersede the court’s authority, the judge’s authority is utterly dependent upon the existence of such a law, and — whether one wishes to acknowledge it or not — upon the authority of God.

This is not to say that each individual person may decide what natural law (or God’s law) shall be for the entire republic. But it certainly does not mean that a federal judge’s authority supersedes the law of God, or “natural law.”

“And they have to truck in homosexuals from Ohio to push this in Kentucky?”

It’s the same small handful of people applying for marriage licenses over and over, in different states.
Their object is not to get married. Their objective is to attack Christianity and deconstruct the whole society.
Somebody should do a public records search; I bet the same names would turn up repeatedly, along with the same lawyers’ names, and, of course, the Human Rights Commission is orchestrating the whole thing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these “couples” aren’t even homosexuals, but are Communists posing as gays to further the chaos agenda. Getting spousal benefits equals $$$ to help fund their activities.
Most gays are actually anti-monogamy anyway, and have no desire to get married. The whole gay marriage meme was a farce orchestrated to get spousal medical benefits from employers during the AIDS crisis.
Remember when insurance companies could refuse to pay for illnesses or injuries resulting from lifestyle choices? Plus a serious illness that requires you to quit working means you lose your employer medical benefits.

So now they can get AIDS or wreck their rectums, and just get “married” to
be taken care of. There’s no requirement they actually live together or be monagamous.
Heck, there’s no longer any requirement they use only one identity or sex.
Bruce can be married to Steve or Sue. Then Bruce can become Caitlan and can marry Jack. Or be a lesbian.

"I do not forget the position assumed by some that constitutional questions are to be decided by the Supreme Court, nor do I deny that such decisions must be binding in any case upon the parties to a suit as to the object of that suit, while they are also entitled to very high respect and consideration in all parallel cases by all other departments of the Government. And while it is obviously possible that such decision may be erroneous in any given case, still the evil effect following it, being limited to that particular case, with the chance that it may be overruled and never become a precedent for other cases, can better be borne than could the evils of a different practice. At the same time, the candid citizen must confess that if the policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court, the instant they are made in ordinary litigation between parties in personal actions the people will have ceased to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned their Government into the hands of that eminent tribunal."

My family mottos are “Strength in Heaven” (Latin) and “Hope in God” (Court French). It is gratifying to hear that someone else knows something of their family history. I hope that I can be a strong witness if called upon. Haven’t been yet, but it’s creeping much closer these days. We all die. There is no better way than to die in the defense of our beliefs.

There was no ‘law’ the Supremacist Court false gods in black dresses’ decree. They willed it to be so. No legal basis for their decision.

"THEY" got this ball rolling for good with Lawrence v. Texas in 2003.

Stick a fork in America.

The Gods of the Copybook Headings

AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “The Wages of Sin is Death.”

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “If you don’t work you die.”

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

Hold the snark. I’m just acknowledging it happened, not approving thereof.

As to what “natural law” may or may not be — there is nothing in the law which gives any guidance.

You are flipping kidding me right?

The law of nature? No one knows what that is? No one knows water is wet? Fire burns? Men and women make babies? Killing people and stealing things is bad?

The Natural Law is that which is so obvious it doesn't even need to be put into statute.

Not trying to be snarky.

I just haven’t come across anyone who has been to a homosexual wedding.

Looks like you didn’t go.

Since Jesus’ eyes burn like a flame of fire, think that Bunning could maintain such a gaze for long?

“Human law is law only by virtue of its accordance with right reason; and thus it is manifest that it flows from the eternal law. And in so far as it deviates from right reason it is called an unjust law; in such case it is no law at all, but rather a species of violence.”

— Thomas Aquinas, Summa theologiae, Ia-Ilae, q. xciii, art. 3, ad 2m.
