A culture official in Poland said radar imagery appears to confirm a story by two men who said they know the location of a mysterious Nazi train that may contain gold or other treasures. Deputy Culture Minister Piotr Zuchowski said Friday he's "more than 99 percent sure that the train is there," but couldn't confirm what was inside the train.
...... ........ The mystery train is believed to be in an abandoned tunnel near Ksiaz Castle, in southwestern Poland.
Local legend says the train contains gold, precious stones, art and weapons. The two men who brought the train to the government's attention -- a Pole and a German -- have requested 10 percent of the haul in exchange for their knowledge.
Zuchowski said the two men were made aware of the possible discovery by a man who drew them a map while on his death bed, NBC News reported. The man reportedly helped hide the train some 70 years ago and wanted to pass on his knowledge before he died.
The culture minister warned treasure-seekers not to go looking for the train because it could be booby trapped. "There is a huge probability that the train is mined," he said in a statement. Zygmunt Nowaczyk, the deputy mayor of Walbrzych, wouldn't reveal the exact location of the train, but confirmed to the BBC it is "within our administrative boundaries."

Someone kinda like this guy?
Even if there is nothing in it, its still damn cool.
A chance for Geraldo to redeem himself after Al Capone’s vaults.
“...don’t die Blondie, don’t die like that pig”
RADAR = RAdio Detection And Ranging
Sorry that is how the headline was printed.
Well,,, any paintings and furniture, after 70 years in a cold damp tunnel, will at best be piles of mold. Other stuff might have survived.
LOL! Take THAT, Tuco!
Just been reading The Monuments Men. (The book is WAY better than the movie.)
Radar O”Reilly would disagree

This story has been in the news for over a month. Put up or shut up. Show the world the train and its contents or admit that it’s a hoax.
This sounds like it could be a movie. Indiana Jones and the Lost Gold Train
Radar has not been capitalized for a long time. Once an acronym becomes part of the language the capitals are dropped.
My 60’s navigation (US Navy Hydrographic office) books all say radar.
In the 1940s-1950s you would be absolutely correct. But I think this is a case where the acronym has turned into a word. English is always changing and I think this is an example. My 1960 Websters Dictionary does not capitalize the "word" radar.

Sounds like it was found in an uncharted, unfinished tunnel that was part of “Projekt Reise”, an effort using Soviet POW’s and Concentration Camp Jews as slave labor, to build a complex of underground factories.
Most of these tunnels are unfinished, unsupported, and the whole area is likely very unstable. And pin-pointing billions in gold will bring the thieves out of the woodwork, like crazy, and probably already has.
IMO, that’s why no one ever found it after the war, the workers were all killed by the Nazi’s as the Soviets advanced.
Then the killers themselves, the only ones left who knew where the train was, were themselves probably killed by the advancing Soviets.
