WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker says that building a wall along the country's norther border with Canada is a legitimate issue that merits further review.
Republican candidates have generally taken a get-tough approach on deterring illegal immigration, but they usually focus on the border with Mexico.
The Wisconsin governor was asked whether he wanted to build a wall on the northern border, too, during an interview Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Walker says law enforcement officials in New Hampshire brought up the topic of building a wall along the U.S.-Canadian border during a recent town hall meeting. He says they raised some legitimate concerns, so it's a "legitimate issue for us to look at."

There's a town on the Vermont/Quebec border that I've vised several times.Once,I thought I had accidentally crossed into Canada by a few feet and then back into the US.Being a bit afraid I went to a nearby official US border crossing and reported what happened.The border official said that it was OK and that they'd straighten it out with their Canadian counterparts.He said that there were all sorts of sensors and cameras in that area...on both sides of the border.I wonder if that could be true elsewhere along the border.
A lot of criminal elements shifted to trafficking drugs into the US through Canada for this very reason. It’s not as in the spotlight.
That being said, I don’t think that dealing with such is even close to the top of the priority list.
Driving south down I-91 in Vermont I've seen border patrol cars 30 miles south of the border.Surprising to be sure.
I agree...I think having an open border that long can be asking for trouble. It’s worth a look, at least.
The Northern Wall would be put in place to keep the illegal aliens that are in the United States from Migrating to Canada.
Really Wisconsin shares a border with Canada? come now I live in the UP of Michigan, and there is lake Superior to my north and Minnesota borders nearby but no shared border with Wisconsin and Canada that I know of. Periodically there are people trying to sneak through Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario Canada crossing the International Bridge into Sault Sainte Marie, MI USA.

Oh I'm sure they'll be stepping up their border enforcement once the self-deportations start. There'll be something along the line of 3 or 4 million Illegals trying to make their way north.

They actually operate a checkpoint on I-91 south of White River Junction sometimes, the logic of which is hard to fathom.

The biggest problem is not the land borders (although the Canadian border, while not letting a huge number of people through, has a large and dangerous Muslim population that has gotten across the border...although generally through our careless border crossings).
The biggest problem is the people who fly to the US and arrive legally (as tourists or students) and then simply disappear. And then, like Obama’s auntie, even get on welfare and have us paying for them for the rest of their lives.
China is the leader in this, and in fact, in the last couple of years, there have been way more Chinese immigrants, legal or illegal, than Mexican immigrants. Indians are pretty close behind. And then there are the huge numbers of Muslims Obama is bringing in, not only from the ME and Africa, but Chechens such as the brothers Tsarnaev and their ugly relatives, who were all unprosecuted visa-overstayers.
That’s where the true immigration crisis lies. But Trump is too much of a demagogic coward to take that on. It’s easier to attack wetbacks (who have gotten through in such scanty numbers that California growers couldn’t find anybody to do the harvests this year and are busy automating) than to confront Obama and his insane immigration “policies.”
