'Significant find' confirmed in Poland as speculation builds it could be lost Nazi train carrying gold - follow latest updates.
SNIP--- 23.02 At a press conference Zygmunt Nowaczyk, deputy mayor of Walbrzych, said “the discovery was in the town’s district”.
The Polish state treasure and culture ministry have been informed in case the find contained anything of value, Matthew Day reports.
SNIP-- All we know for sure so far from today's developments is a press officer in the Polish town confirming a military train has been found and the Walbrzych's deputy mayor saying there was "formal information".

Okay...they didn’t say anything about that in the documentary. :) I’ll have to go find the name of it...think I watched it on Netflix.
I could see the liberals doing it to us in a heartbeat, their sheep would go right along with it.
The Amber Room may be on that train.
I have to say, based on looking at the photo on Wikipedia, that I do not like the Amber Room. Appreciate the work that went into it, but I could not stand to stay in it for more than 2 minutes. Too much going on there for my taste.
They know without a doubt if they accurately teach history then their support would fade away.
I was shocked when my daughters were in high school (15 years ago) that the Vietnam War had only a paragraph in their History text book. I think World War II had one page.
What people wrote about it is that it was dazzling to the eyes and senses in that the sun, reflected light and candle light would hit the room in certain ways that when walking in it the amber would glisten and sparkle in such a way to appear that the room was alive and moving.
It was also full of carvings that tell a long history. So it’s a jewel, an art, a book and a wonder all at once.
I guess one has to see it to understand why people went on about it so much.

Certainly a good web search would describe the Amber Room to the curious far better than my attempts.
I would guess it was hard to find enough amber and enough artisans to carve it for the modern reproduction.
Would not be surprised if the original is hidden in a secret room in the Kremlin or in one of Putin’s dachas.
You know, the painting in Madrid reminds me of something I heard years ago. One of the reasons Hitler and his bankers launched the Austrian, Czech and then Polish invasions when they did was from running out of foreign exchange currency for their overseas purchases. They seized the cash and gold reserves of every invaded nation and then made the occupied use scrip or Reichmarks. Oil, rubber, tungsten, aluminum,food and so forth had to be procured from somewhere. Besides currency and gold they could peddle artwork to wealthy foreign collectors.
BTW, I sure hope that the new Amber Room is real amber and not painted plaster or something.
I don’t exactly see people like Yeltsin or Putin being on a George Washington level of honesty.
