Cruz has equivocated on whether it is in the Constitution or not. A few years ago he said it was in the Constitution and now he he is backpedaling. Cruz also said that it will take many, many years to change and we should focus on the border first.
This and Cruz's support of massively increasing H-1B visas make me think he's another stealth corporatist.
I saw Cruz dance around on this question last night on Kelley and he lost some points with us.
“Trump actually does remind me of another politician”
I disagree. You mention background, little attachment with GOP, ran as conservative, good name recognition.
I think it’s the sense he conveys that he understand America’s situation, has vast experience getting things done, and is able to speak truths that other politicians can’t do either because they don’t know the truths or because they can’t displease their backers or the establishment team they’re on.
The truth, as far DT is concerned, seems to be awfully flexible depending on the circumstances.
No doubt in my mind.
Mike Barnicle: Do you believe in birth right citizenship?
Carly Fiorina: I think it is in our Constitution. I do not support amending the Constitution and frankly in this regard honestly, I think Donald Trump is acting like the politicians he excoriates. Let's hold a bright, shiny object out here, let's amend the Constitution and end birth right citizenship. It is not going to happen.
You make a number of good points.
However, it also seems clear a part of that alleged "flexibility" is the result of the MSM either lying about his statements/positions, often by omitting relevant facts, or taking them out of context. The local Fox radio station here in Georgia does quite a bit of that in an obvious effort to discredit him.
OK, that tears it. My Carly boomlet is now officially done. She talked a good game, but her inner RINO has now surfaced. My short list is now down to Trump, Carson, and Cruz. Cruz is on thin ice due to his “50% eligibility” and just recently, his failure to give a straight answer to Megan Kelly on the anchor baby issue.
With her focus on Trump, instead of selling herself as a positive, Fiorina is squandering much of her goodwill.
Carly Fiorina was very high on my list for a long time. However, the more she talks, the lower she drops.
Well Carly here’s on thing you can count on that is not going to happen... illegal alien criminal invaders who will be voting, are not going to be voting for you.
You might want to try getting on the RIGHT side!
"Fix the legal immigration system?" WTH does that mean? That definitely deserves a follow-up question, but many pols say similar things, but few are asked for the details.
It sounds like: allow so much legal immigration and make it so easy that few will have to come illegally.
We need some details from those using that "fix the legal immigration system" pablum, but never explain what they mean.
I like Cruz second to Trump, but often wonder what those Big Donors who gave him $40 million plus want from him.
She is unraveling. I don’t think anyone can say with certainty that it’s in our constitution, esp when in fact the 14th amendment was re interpreted to include illegals born here, when that wasn’t it’s intent.
Clearly, it’s up for debate and test challenge.
Mike Barnicle: Do you believe in birth right citizenship?
Carly Fiorina: I think it is in our Constitution.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
She’s done.
Trump did advocate amending the constitution. He said that we needed to try all ways of changing birthright citizenship. If changing through congress or the courts did not work we would need to amend the constitution.
The great value of debates (heh) is that people who have no real viability in an election but are relatively better at blowing smoke pick up some numbers; and one stammer over some idiot’s question can ash-can a candidate, even the leader.
Unless the leader is Trump of course. ;’) Having Fox — formerly the last actual broadcast news in the country, but unpopular with the Demwits — do the hatchet job has been of benefit to him.
Yes... I agree.
One thought I’ve had is how will Trump handle the question that is sure to come about why he thinks the bible is the number one book? I mean if he give a superficial answer he’ll get away with, but there’s more to it than that.
For one thing, he’s not playing the secular game. Saying the bible is the number one book, implies that the Koran is definitely not, but I’d be impressed if he actually has knowledge of passages and stories and not from his experience as a country club Christian.
“Ive seen this rodeo before. DT like Arnold is populist with wide appeal and near universal name ID.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger defeated governor — “Gray out” — gray Davis.
We just wanted to stick it to “the man.”
Arnold would make everything better.
‘Kalifornia vould ve vouderful’!
We would all have ‘Great Jobs’... Kalifornia would be one big Disneyland, with free rides for everyone.
After Arnold took office — everything tanked!
The Trump candidacy is Deja Vu All Over Again.
However, this time it’s not Governor of a State, but the President of our Country that is at stake.
I like Trump, but I liked Arnold too!
I just hope IF Trump IS elected POTUS he will be up to the task.
Maybe there is a reason that professional politicians ARE professional politicians.
With all his good intentions Donald, like Arnold, could end up over his head.
I hope for the best, but am prepared for disappointments also.
All that said: Trump still may be the last chance to turn our Country around.
We shall see.
