Pollster Zogby: Trump Just Weeks From Running Out of Gas
Newsmax ^ | August 25, 2014 | Bill Hoffmann

Posted on 08/26/2015 7:48:11 AM PDT by Hojczyk

"I just don't see how he sustains this over a long period of time. Frankly, I give it another month … mid-September," Zogby, CEO of Zogby Analytics, said Tuesday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."

"So much of [Trump's campaign] is based on being outrageous. How long can you be outrageous? And be outrageous every single day is what he's being." "As soon as he puts together two or three days where there isn't anything outrageous, where the press isn't there, where he just doesn't get this kind of attention, he himself may very well just get bored with that.

"This probably has taken off for him a whole lot bigger and a whole lot faster than he even dreamt."

Appearing with Zogby was Craig Shirley, president of Shirley & Bannister Public Relations, who said of the billionaire developer who remains the GOP frontrunner:

"An old political consultant, Ronald Reagan's campaign manager, John Sears, said politics is motion and the one person in this race who does seem to understand that axiom is Donald Trump.

Shirley said Trump's appeal lies more with the "Joe Six Pack, blue collar, lunch bucket crowd" than it does with the "country club elites."

"It's interesting that so many populist leaders over the past, both Democratic and Republican, whether it's Teddy Roosevelt or Franklin Roosevelt or Ronald Reagan, came out of the middle class or even the upper classes," he said.

"Some came out of the military elites, but they saw for themselves the corruption of the elites and in fact led populist upheavals in America and we're seeing that today."

Some serious conservatives now have Trump’s ear, as Trump looks for guidance and they are more than glad to give it (even Cruz, who is in this selflessly).

Like I said to a skeptic the other day, you wouldn’t know red meat if it came charging up to you with its long horns, snorting and pawing on the hoof.

That is also correct, eventually Graham, Perry and the rest of the GOPe RINOS will get the hint to drop out.

I have not seen to date any advertised political commercial from his campaign.”

Saw the one they put together about Barbara Bush not being in favor of Jeb running. It is priceless and rather made itself. Had to be incredibly inexpensive to put together and isn’t very long. Wonder if Momma Bush will request royalties.

When I watch him doing these rallies, I forget that he is a billionaire. He seems to Joe Six Pack - not an elitist or snob - just like an average American, who has billions of dollars.

I noticed that too. Very unusual quality but it partly explains his appeal.

All of the establishment operatives including Zogga.. ga.. whatever are paid to do a job. That job is create the illusion their bosses desire.

Trump shattered the illusion. He pulled the curtain back, we can see the levers.

To continue to receive paychecks, the frauds have to go all in with their fraudulent fraudishness. They know the jig is up. They are hoping to strike it rich by doing something - anything that damages Trump because the regular pay is unsustainable and the check writers know it.

Trump being outrageous? Or Trump just being Trump.

Why doesn't Zogby and Luntz merge? Both don't know what they are doing.

Trump won this election the night of debate when he said “ just Rosie.”

Trump is king of leverage, if nothing else. He has $9 billion, more or less, and might not even need to spend even one of those billions.

There is a lot to be said for momentum.

For Carson and Cruz it's just a matter of maintaining.

For Jeb it's a matter of catch up and parity and being seen as relevant. A shellacking in the primaries will hurt Jebbie bad.

Nobody expects those lower down to do well, but if you're a presumptive front runner, you better be leading.

I think these pundits believe if they just keep mumbling this to themselves long enough it will eventually happen. In the meantime, Trump continues his ascent in the polls and they look like desperate idiots.

I am not convinced that Trump is the conservative lion people on FR are making him out to be. Still, the attack vectors the media, the dems and the GOP-e are throwing at him are starting to verge on pathetic and reek of desperation. I do love the way he handles it all, though, and wish others would take the same tack.

Watching Trump last night was like attending a large social gathering where everyone was having a great time and Trump was the life of the party. He is so engaging, it is not like a speech, but he makes you feel part of the conversation. It is an amazing skill.

“There is no indication - ZERO - that Trump is running out of gas.”

On the other hand, it appears there is water and sugar mixed in with the gas !Yeb is running. Well before any Trump crash, a whole bunch of the second tier will drop out.

This is going to winnow down quickly to a Trump vs Jeb vs Cruz race. Carson is nice, but I don’t see him having legs. Walker is vacillating, Paul self destructed, most don’t have enough money or brainpower.

After Labor Day, Trump will begin releasing detailed position papers every week or two. That, plus the debates, will keep him front and center through October, at least.

There’s still three more months to go, but he seems to be picking up 4-5% support every week. If he gets up into the 40s, for example, he’ll have great momentum to keep it going.

Besides, if the media stops paying attention (which they won’t want to do given the ratings), that’ll just give sanction to his being a serious contender and the leader in the race.
