A gunman killed a reporter and videographer for a CBS affiliate in Virginia in a shooting that was broadcast live Wednesday morning.
Alison Parker and Adam Ward, a reporter and cameraman for CBS Roanoke affiliate WDBJ-TV, died in the shooting, Parker's mother confirmed to CBS News.
WDBJ-TV reports that deputies from Franklin County and Bedford County were on the scene.
The shooting happened at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia.

VDOT [VA Dept of Transportation] is reporting a high-priority incident on Route 122 in the vicinity of Dovetail Road near Bridgewater Plaza. Both north and south through lanes are closed. Route 122 south at the Bedford County line is blocked down to the Bridgewater Plaza. Traffic is being detoured onto Route 636, onto Route 619, onto Route 757, onto Route 616, onto Route 655 and back onto VA-122.
We need to get them to take it down, out of respect to the journalists.

I love seeing what my family and friends are doing....yeah even what they are eating. I feel like every day I am in touch with them, knowing what they are up to and yeah, I like looking at the pics.
There’s always that SCROLL key, people, or “unfriend”. Social media, I argue, is the PERFECT democracy.
Cause you can join if you want, not join if you want, unfriend those you don’t like, quit completely if that becomes needed.
But some folks, they can’t handle a pure democracy. So they gripe and complain cause why? Cause couldn’t they just unfriend or scroll on by? NO! They want the GOVERNMENT TO MAKE THEM STOP!
