A former White House fellow has a unique proposal to take affirmative action to a whole new level. He wants to give votes cast by African-Americans a greater weight than those cast by non-blacks.
So much for “one man, one vote.”
“Racial reconciliation is impossible without some kind of broad-based, systemic reparations,” career Naval officer and PhD candidate Theodore R. Johnson wrote in The Washington Post. “But if a pecuniary answer can’t fix the structural disadvantage — and it can’t — what can?”
Johnson proposes that each black vote count as five-thirds of a vote, flipping around the old constitutional provision that counted slaves as three-fifths of a person.
Johnson thinks this is going to bring the races together?
“A five-thirds compromise would imbue African Americans with a larger political voice that could be used to fight the structural discrimination expressed in housing, education, criminal justice and employment,” he wrote. “Allowing black votes to count for 167 percent of everyone else’s would mean that 30 million African American votes would count as 50 million, substituting super-votes for the implausible idea of cash payments.”(continued)

Wait a minute. What happens if you have one black parent and one white parent? Do you still get 5/3 of a vote? Or do you get the average of 5/3 and 1 (4/3 of a vote)?
Now suppose you had one black grandparent, one native American grandparent, and two white grandparents? This could get mighty complicated mighty fast.

Libs who complain about the 3/5 Compromise often are ignorant of the fact that it was Northerners who proposed it - since blacks counted as people on par with whites would give the South some level of parity with the North.
Wow. Amazing what they will come up with to soothe black souls. Yet I think they would rather have money instead of super duper voting rights.
How will this law work in an interracial marriage?
Next we’ll hear that only blacks and their pets can vote, toss extra votes for their ancestors going all the way back to Jesus’ days.
Then they’ll come up with a rule that only one white person in a household can vote.
BTW, how do the hispanics feel about this?
What about asians?
What about American Indians?
how will their votes count?
