Presidential candidate Donald Trump hosted an event last night in Alabama that saw between 18,000 and 20,000-plus people in attendance.
Roll tide, apparently.
During his speech, “the Donald” mentioned how he is a big fan of Oreo cookies, but will refuse to ever eat them again since Nabisco plans on moving to Mexico.

“You know, Mexico is the new China,” Trump told the crowd, referencing the recent decision by Nabisco to move its factories there.
“I love Oreos. I’ll never eat them again. Okay? I’ll never eat them again,” Trump said. “No, Nabisco closes the plant, they just announced a couple of days ago, in Chicago and they are moving the plant to Mexico. Now, why?”
“I don’t blame China. I respect them,” Trump said. “I’m not angry at them. I’m angry at our leaders for being so stupid. I’m not angry at China.”
Oreos — more specifically, Nabisco — caused the ire of the billionaire presidential contender after the company announced its decision not to invest the $130 million for a factory upgrade and will move production across the county’s southern border into Mexico. Nabisco also recently shut down its Philadelphia factory in an effort to expand factories in Virginia and New Jersey, although union members believe their jobs will eventually be outsourced to Mexico as well.
You know things are bad when American workers fear losing their jobs to outsourcing in order for the company to employ cheap laborers.
He’s not wrong about China. What the communist nation is doing is capitalizing on the weakness of current American leaders. They’re taking advantage of a flaw in our highly liberal system that disincentivizes making money.
What would be great about a Trump presidency is that he will not kowtow to any foreign land, and will always put the American people first. There won’t be an Obama-like Middle East apology tour under Trump, that’s for certain.

FWIW, Hershey closed a plant in Canada and moved some of those operations back to the US and some to Mexico. They also closed a plant in CA but if you know anything about the labor laws in CA, you wouldn’t blame them.

The story made clear that there were still several Hershey's plants in the US. I also knew that from reading articles when the announcement was first made. That article is from a union point of view, but it is also accurate in what Hershey moved and what remains in the US.
Pro-union? Pro-union I could somewhat stomach but a website that is blatantly pro-Marxist and pro-Communist? No thanks. I would also note that the article you posted is full of half truths, some outright lies and many factual omissions.

Last time a Republican did tarriffs it failed as countries we trade with threatened to increase tariffs on US companies. How is that good for employees.
Note, this is not 1913. The US trades with other countries. Any tariff we impose on them will be imposed on us.

I didn't even pay any attention to the source because I already knew the key information presented was correct. And it addressed several industries, not just those using sugar such as cookies and candy producers. I pay attention to such developments as they happen.
But maybe since the source bothers you so much, you think there is still a booming furniture manufacturing in North Carolina.

Aside from "dance with the one what brung ya" I imagine he believes American free trade beneficiaries should be benefiting American workers.
It's not like he's not promising to make the business environment more attractive.
Well the tax, and tariffs are high enough. Add to them all the matching payroll taxes, and Obamacare costs.
Then add to that Nabisco has to make a profit and be responsible to stockholders (also ordinary Americans) who want to have something left of their 401k when they retire.
So which Americans should they be loyal to. The ones able to buy a competitively priced cookie, the ones who have invested their hard earned money in Nabisco stock, or those who imply Nabisco is un-patriotic for not taking the first two groups for granted.
If we want these companies back;
Eliminate corporate taxes- those get passed to consumers at almost 90%
Institute either a flat tax, or Fair Tax, and eliminate withholding.
Eliminate Obamacare for a free market solution.
Eliminate the double taxing of manufacturers with things like the sugar tariffs.
Also since the two tax choices eliminate the capital gains tax, investing will increase.

perhaps the bigger problem is why we allow 50 million people to receive food stamps or whatever.
Perhaps if we can get a new administration to reverse the current regime’s damage to our nation’s economy, some of the 97 million Americas without jobs may get back to work.

consider that the main ingredient of the cookies is SugarThe wholesale price of sugar is about 27 cents/pound. It's hard to believe that the cost of the sugar affects the profitability of Oreo's very much.
It's more likely that it is the same as most products - the ingredients/components contribute very little to production cost while infrastructure, manufacturing, R&D and labor make up most of the expense.
The Lemon Oreo’s are like crack....lol
