The pilot began his maneuvers at too low an attitude.
It could be that his usual altitude was not sufficient because of humidity, and his engine may have had less power.
As the Brits say, he was boloxed all ‘round.

It appears the canopy is coming open on the jet but no ejection. Pilot evidently stayed with the plane. It's amazing that he survived.
