An attorney for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said Thursday recent comments made by Donald Trump threaten his client's right to a fair trial, after the presidential candidate called Bergdahl a "dirty, rotten traitor."
At a town hall in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Trump referred to Bergdahl as a "dirty, rotten traitor" and appeared to pantomime his execution while criticizing the soldier's release as part of a prisoner exchange with the Taliban.
Attorney Eugene R. Fidell said in a statement that his client was unable to speak out in his own defense because he is facing a preliminary hearing in the military justice system.
"Nor, as a practical matter, is he [Bergdahl] in a position, for the moment, to bring the defamation lawsuit Mr. Trump richly deserves," Fidell said in the statement.

I don’t think Mr. Trump has anything to fear from the dirty rotten traitor.
The attorney...just looking for his 15 minutes.
Please sue. Trump’s poll numbers will skyrocket.
I’m sure they can locate 12 clueless stooges to give him a “fair” trial. We got plenty of “crazy” in this country.

Tell that to the families of the soldiers killed looking your POS client off on his nature walk, Yuwee.
Traitor Bowe Bergdahl seems far more appropriate.
Meaningless bluster. A lawyer who actually believed that Trump deserves a defamation lawsuit would have actually threatened to file said lawsuit, even if the criminal proceedings mean he couldn't do so now.
Bring it!
Perhaps the familes of the injured or dead soldiers who were forced to go out and seach for the scum traitor Bowe Bergdahl should sue Bowe Bergdahl.
The dirty rotten traitor is a public figure at this point, therefore no case for defamation. Anyone who would take his case is a scumbag himself, FWIW.
Good luck finding a jury pool on that one. LOL!
Bergdahl is a dirty, rotten traitor just like the president who traded dangerous terrorists for his worthless, stinking hide.
*spits*
Defense for defamation is truth.
After the trial and “not guilty” verdict, they’ll all be surrounding Trump for his autograph.
Don’t worry, Fiddel’s poll number will tank, Trump’s will go up. Happens to every person who attacks Trump.
You can’t sue someone for speaking the truth about a person .. even if that person doesn’t like what’s being said.
