The Black Rock Desert, Nevada, site for this year's Burning Man has been inundated with biting bugs, it emerged this week.
Several photos uploaded to Twitter this week showed swarms of bugs, both on the ground and in the air.
User @khloestarr shared one such photograph, writing: 'Bugs on the playa this year. Not normal. Shouldn't a dust storm knock them out? Like Burningman [sic] wasn't gross enough.'
On Tuesday, a blog post on the page for Voices of Burning Man reported on the insects' presence.

Poor bugs having to bite on those freaks.
Yellow Stink Bug - Dendrocoris contaminatus
Yep, non-biting stink bugs. They do stink when you squish them but who could tell over the human stink.
Nature’s immune response to hippies
When has lice ever stopped a “damned dirty hippie’?
The sight of a bar of Soap however could cause a stampede!
Hai Gaia, leave these bugs alone. They are just like Clarence the Lion, only smaller.
Nothing a little bit of cropdusting with DDT wouldn’t solve.
Oh, wait a minute ...
Should be renamed “Fossil Fuel Man” because all these hypocritical narcissist faux “hippies” use SOOO MUCH energy to make this happen and then create a huge carbon footprint at the end when they burn stuff.
I know some people who go to this parade of tech narcissism.
LOL! Sadly, I know some too who wouldn’t miss it for anything. But, I don’t know any furries. At least that I’m aware of. :>}
Guess these folks don’t even consider the fuel costs and associated “carbon footprint” they raise. I got a certain footprint I’d like to give some of them.
Right on! These narcissists need to wake up and realize their self-indulgent hypocrisy.
Nothing that is done at “Fossil Fuel Burning Man” is productive. No cures for diseases are found, no inventions, no food or fuel is produced.
It’s all about consumptive “self-expression”
Agreed.
But at least it’s a chance to commune with nature and all it’s glory. For free. Well, except for the price of the tickets to get in. We noticed a batch of rental RV’s lined up at Grand Sierra resort yesterday. Can’t even imagine the condition they come back in after a week on the playa. Lots of burner “school busses” and other camping vehicles scattered around town. I think the BLM limited the promoters to around 70k uh, participants this year.
