Republicans thought they had learned a lesson after 2012: Turning off Latino voters ensures defeat in the general election.
But as the disruptive presidential candidacy of Donald J. Trump continues to gain support, his hard line on immigration has driven rivals to match his biting anti-immigrant language and positions long considered extreme. It risks another general election cycle in which Hispanics view the party as unfriendly no matter who the nominee is, Republican strategists warned.
This week, several of Mr. Trumps Republican rivals, including Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, echoed his call to end automatic citizenship for the American-born children of undocumented immigrants, repealing a constitutional right dating from the Civil War era.

How is stopping the anchor baby program wrong? These kids are not "under the jurisdiction" of the United States of America until we start giving their illegal parents freebies from the coffers of the taxpayer-funded largess ....
an excellent article on the subject
OReilly was red faced insistent that the Constitution would have to be amended. I thought he was angry during the whole interview just from the angry expression on his face. The old Bill from 20 years ago certainly showed.

Did you mean to say anchor babies of illegal alien invaders?
When a burglar breaks into your house will you call him an undocumented visitor?
If your pregnant wife delivers your child while visiting France or China, is your kid French or Chinese? Tell me what the heck your kid would be?
"Donald Trump Paints Republicans Into Corner With Hispanics"
New York Slimes racist authors TRIP GABRIEL and JULIA PRESTON proving they believe that all hispanics are illegal aliens. The same goes for the rank and file (R)epublicrat party shills including their talking heads at FOXey News.
Meanwhile Trump goes straight at this monumental lie, defying all the wussiecrats in both parties and entire the chattering class. The beauty of this is that Illegal Aliens cannot vote legally in the first place, and that leaves only the legal immigrants who most likely contain a majority that AGREE with Trump. This "latino" vote is definitely in play.
We're going to need a new word for this 'triangulation'. strategy ... Trumpulation?
All the news that's fit to wrap fish in.
Hispanic cultures tend to be more class conscious than most American cultures. It is difficult to imagine any cultured Hispanic making the identification, the NYT imnplies.
"The key for a GOP win is getting conservatives off their ass and out to the polls to vote. McCain and Romney lost because millions of conservatives stayed home instead of voting for a them."
That's part of it, but I'm skeptical the raw numbers are there to overcome the (D)ummycrats.
The absolute most important thing is that votes need to be taken from the (D)ummycrats. Mathematically each crossover vote is the same as two votes from new voters, or two (R)epublicans or two disallusioned non-voters or two of anything else. This is because in net terms a crossover vote means they are decreased by one and we are increased by one. Such a simple concept that the (R)etards cannot visualize it.
Ronaldus Maximus got 50.8% in 1980. After kickstarting the economy and kicking some military ass he received 58.8% in 1984. The "Reagan Democrats" as they were called.
Hence the dirty little secret. The GOPe is busy trying to nominate their favorite (R)epublicrat to no avail. None of them will draw a (D)ummycrat crossover. They had their chance to do that each and every election and they failed to do that each and every single time. (D)ummies don't want to vote for (D)-lite. They want (D)emocrats or something else entirely.
Trump does have cross party appeal. But can he get past the (R)epublicrat establishment? That is the issue for the next year.
"We're going to need a new word for this 'triangulation'. strategy ... Trumpulation?"
Hmmm, just thought of one ... Triumpulation!
"OReilly was red faced insistent that the Constitution would have to be amended. I thought he was angry during the whole interview just from the angry expression on his face. The old Bill from 20 years ago certainly showed."
He was ridiculous. As were his idiotic guests. His little schtick of badgering Trump about "was I fair?" and "I don't want you to tweet about me" or whatever was sad. Especially since O'Reilly has yet to comment on Megyn Motormouth as far as I have seen.
And the pompous ass doubled down tonight, Wednesday, with a weak and pathetic attempt to say he is correct and that Trump was wrong.
It is beginning to look like the trademark of FOXey News is to never admit they are wrong. FOX is hell-bent on demonstrating their less-than-serious tabloid.
Levin will apparently be on Hannity TV tonight. Please let him cross paths with that clown O'Reilly somewhere in that building.
You must work for Jebbie and Rubio.
Your post looks straight out of the GOPe clown car.

He talked right over Tarantino, the windbag.
I commend you MR for taking some of this uninformed crap. Okay, we can agree on the serious subjects (i.e. no same sex marriage, things like that) but in more grayer areas, people need to chill out. This is a constitutional question. Sorry for any guff people gave you. I know you are a good poster.
Finally, some sanity in here!
Sorry for any guff people gave you. I know you are a good poster.
Wouldn't be in here if I couldn't handle the heat. But appreciate you saying this, sir.
Absurd.
Turning off WHITE voters is what dooms the GOP.

Uninformed? Gray areas?
Author of the 14th Amendment ...
"During debate over the first clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, he argued for including the phrase and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Howard said:
[The 14th amendment] will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the government of the United States, but will include every other class of person."
Now both of you have been duly informed, by the very author of the very words in the 14th Amendment which somehow have you so confused.
It won't matter though, will it? You are apparently hanging your hat on past misuse of that Amendment to justify its continuing misuse.
It's bad enough that the purpose of that Amendment was to legitimize the freed black slaves and their kids. People that steal this noble purpose for their own selfish use are despicable.
But what explains the obstinate arguments seen by a handful here who close their eyes and ears and their very mind? Some kind of knee-jerk devil's advocacy I would guess.
"Give us your tired ..."
What does that have to do with the Founders, the Revolution, the Constitution?
Put on Hannity right now.
Levin.
" ... Hannity ..."
My FRiend MinorityRepublican, now admit you are Geraldo.
