Republicans thought they had learned a lesson after 2012: Turning off Latino voters ensures defeat in the general election.
But as the disruptive presidential candidacy of Donald J. Trump continues to gain support, his hard line on immigration has driven rivals to match his biting anti-immigrant language and positions long considered extreme. It risks another general election cycle in which Hispanics view the party as unfriendly no matter who the nominee is, Republican strategists warned.
This week, several of Mr. Trumps Republican rivals, including Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, echoed his call to end automatic citizenship for the American-born children of undocumented immigrants, repealing a constitutional right dating from the Civil War era.

Since most hispanics are illegal or support illegals, who cares? I sure don’t.
..... undocumented immigrants.
—
You mean illegals?
Enough of the anchor babies. Time to end that game.
“Undocumented immigrants”?
That’s the language of the left. They are called illegal aliens.
Mark Levin’s take...
A “nation” that will not secure and defend its borders does not deserve to exist, and America, the U.S.A., can logically be said to have completely compromised its identity and its reason to exist..
Yeah, no kidding.
The legal immigrants and Hispanic citizens are tired of losing jobs to illegals and tired of the reputations they worked so hard to establish. They will flock to Trump!
Viva Trump!
From the The York Slimes you want want what?... Truth?..
You’re completely right. And it’s so offensive to call these criminals “immigrants” in any way, shape, or form. It’s offensive to my parents who went through so much and waited years and years to be admitted into this country.
...The key for a GOP win is getting conservatives off their ass ....
Actually, its the Reagan-Perot democrats or working class group that is the key to the election. Hispanics are a group the GOP are going to lose anyway, but the payoff for the Rep candidate will be gaining 2 votes from the above mentioned group, for every hispanic vote they lose.
How about the term ‘foreign invaders’ or is that too politically correct?
Since most hispanics are illegal or support illegals, who cares? I sure dont.
or once were illegals.. Themselves..
They may not speak up about it out of fear, but I suspect most legal Hispanics don’t care for illegals neither, they went through the process, why should the others get the same thing for nothing?
Get out of our country you illegal scum.
Actually, the biggest group that will swing the election is Generation X voters.
FULL ON REAGAN
Ahh, it’s going to be great being pandered to for once!
yep, a few million bad apples have spoiled it for the whole damned bunch. One way or the other, it has to stop.
Glad to be lectured by the All-Knowing, All-Wise New York Times.
Trump is correct and Levin explained how on his show today.
No he isn't.
