Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Monday landed the endorsement of fellow governor Robert Bentley of AlabamaLater in the day, Kasich became the third candidate to file for South Carolina's 2016 Republican primary, the first contest in the South on Feb. 20, and reiterated his difference with GOP front-runner Donald Trump on illegal immigration.
During a visit to South Carolina Republican Party headquarters in Columbia, Kasich said, he, like Trump, wants to finish construction of a wall between the United States and Mexico.
"Anyone who comes in illegally will have to be sent back," Kasich said.
Unlike Trump, Kasich has called for a path to legal citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants now in the country. Most are, "God-fearing, good hard-working people, and theyre part of our country now," Kasich said, repeating assertions he made in New Hampshire last week.
"I dont think we need to be engaged in trying to figure out how to load them on buses and ship them to the border because I don't think its even practical or the right thing to do," Kasich said, The State reported.
At the endorsement, announced Monday at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in Birmingham, Bentley said Kasich has the executive level experience and background necessary to lead.
"I have watched him over the years and I chose him because of his heart," Bentley said, adding that he believes the two have similar approaches toward governing.
Bentley is the first Deep South governor to endorse Kasich, who is generally viewed as being among the more moderate Republican contenders. Kasich said he didn't spend time during his term as governor building broader name recognition and that he thinks an endorsement from Bentley a past supporter of and delegate for Mike Huckabee will go a long way.

Isn’t this the same jackwagon that said he doesn’t need GOD to tell him what to think?
Why is it now important to him that wetbacks are “GOD fearing”?
As I posted on Jeb Bush threads, earlier:
One can argue about the costs & problems with any attempted solution to the present dynamics, which are completely undermining American cultures in community after community. But the one thing that is totally unrealistic is the insane notion that you can preserve the American values & culture of the Founders, without a drastic policy that addresses the realities on the ground.
The Left has used a massive "bait & switch" strategy, going back at least to the 1950s; but with much earlier roots, to undermine the continuity of American culture & identity. The attack goes like this. They first identify actual mean spirited--even hate driven--attacks on people, based on their race, ethnicity, faith or class. Then they label the motive behind those attacks as "racism," "bigotry," "nativism," or whatever, and gain a certain consensus on that labeling. That is the bait; and most of us can agree up to that point, that what they have labelled, is indeed something bad; something that should be avoided, and condemned.
Then comes the subtle switch. At first by slow degrees, and then in a great propaganda rush; the condemned behavior ceases to be limited to actual misdeeds against victims, and is expanded to include any racial, ethnic or religious identification--indeed any sense of community with people with whom you have shared a common history, kinship, values & identity. In short, expanded to include the social "glue," that provides for the cohesion and continuity of a people.
Because so much of our Academia & the puppets in the media who parrot what the Leftist crackpots in Academia installed in their minds, are themselves totally committed to the lunacy that people are interchangeable; that the apparent differences are merely products of a social environment that can be manipulated & changed by social engineering; much of the public never questions what has happened to common sense.
There is almost no sense of proportion or logical relationships in the public discourse. And unless we find a way to break out of the resulting Pavlovian like conditioning, boys and girls, there is not going to be a recognizable America in the very near future.
Jeb Bush may be a very nice man, personally. He is certainly to be commended for loving his wife. His niceness--his commendable sense of his own family--are not the issues. For whatever reason; whether from what he was conditioned to believe in College, or what he has come to believe with the sort of advisers he has had since; or whether from something innate in his character, he is not the man to be taken seriously on this issue.
I have tried to put this in as nice a way as possible. But we are faced with the question of whether America survives as a people. Trump gets it. Bush does not.
Nor does Kasich.
I thought Kasich was a smart campaigner. It is beginning to look like I’m incorrect (thank God)
Don’t care. There is a legal way to gain citizenship and if you didn’t follow those laws, you broke the law,
*************************************************************************
Plus what it says to my friend and fellow Christian, Hugo who spent 14 years and thousands of dollars to come to the U.S. and become a citizen. Congrats to new citizen and fellow conservative Hugo.
Kasich: “Oh these poor poor people, they are on the streets, they have no food, they have no shelter, they don’t speak a eng-lish, what are we to do?”
America: ‘They came in here illegally, they are eating better than we are, they have nicer cars to drive than we do, they live in better housing than we do, and they sit on their butts all day, while we are out working to help them do that!’
America: TIME FOR A CHANGE, TIME FOR TRUMP/CRUZ 2016!!!
John “Yeb” Kasich ...
In other words Kasich is announcing he will soon be out of the race, or announcing he will soon be running as democrat, which is no great surprise either way.
God Fearing and breaking into your home.
Yeah, especially the felons, rapists, drug smugglers, murderers, thieves and bandits.
So are Islamist s but I dont want them here!
Yup.
Yes but what God?
Dumb argument of the day.
Oh Really?
I believe he backs legal status, but not citizenship, so the headline is incorrect...
What he says doesn’t square with their crime rates, their rate of sucking off the legal American taxpayer, etc.
Unlike here in Texas, I guess Ohio gets the angelic illegals?
He doesn’t even have to open his mouth any further than to spit out that he was in Congress for 18 years for me to put him on my “never vote” list! I guess he’s bucking for the Urine Hatch “Longevity” Trophy!
Good for you Johnny. Now go have a drink with the other drunk from Ohio
Another one hits the dust.
