Marco Rubios star may be rising and Tony Abbotts falling among senior News Corp executives, a Sydney speech on Thursday night by chief executive Robert Thomson suggested.
The chief of the media group, whose assets include a range of influential newspapers in the US, Australia and the UK, told an audience at the Lowy Institute that the Florida senator looked an impressive candidate in the race to secure the Republican nomination to run for US president.
Personally I slightly fell in love with Marco Rubio at the last Republican National Convention because I thought he told a great personal narrative in a compelling way, said Thomson.
He said concerns among senior Republicans that he only had one speech to tell and that people had already heard it were overdone.
He has done a lot of work on foreign policy and done a large amount of hidden work in building up a network in the US both of financial backers and friends and supporters For all the focus on The Donald, The Marco is perhaps the
Mr Thomsons audience included his 84-year-old employer Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch, who was recently appointed co-chairman of News Corp. The comments follow a recent public spat between Donald Trump, the former darling of Murdoch-run Fox News who is also seeking the Republican ticket, and the networks anchor Megyn Kelly.

Never took to Rubio like some did around here a few years back.
Plus there is something about his talking syle that gets on my nerves?
OTherwise, he is not going to be a contender.
Murdoch and his Minions might want to check their own polls.
Well he fooled me out of some money just sent Trump ten bucks,..,help pay for the kid he flew to NYC for care
So much for just reporting on the candidates. They want to CHOOSE the candidates. Hopefully, enough people to wake up to this propaganda network we have in this country to put them out of business.
Yes a few years ago he was FR's darling. Times change, now he's mostly despised here.
That said, there is a suitable position for him in President Trumps administration.
Ambassador to Communist Cuba.
Rubio is a little boy. He is also dishonest about his policies.
No to Rubio.

When your base does not turn out, voter fraud makes a difference.
RINO’s love to praise their candidates for the most superficial of attributes. e.g. Rubio has a compelling story, Jeb was a Governor, and has the right tone, etc.
Of course the real reason they love these guys is because they know they would own them.
When your base does not turn out, voter fraud makes a difference.
Exactly.. HOW do you piss off a republican.?..
I am not good at it.. but then who is?..
If you could Cruz and Trump would have tens of thousands at their rallys..
But their rallys are pretty good with widespread apathy like there is..
How in the hell does Huckabee finish second?
ROFL
LOL.
What’s the difference between George Soros and Rupert Murdoch?
