Beat me to it. Sounded just like the movie...”would you like to play a nice game of chess?”

Periodically you hear these horror stories about how close we came to ________________________. Sometimes it's natural cataclysm, sometimes it's nuclear disaster, sometimes it's a global epidemic, but most of the time, it's fiction.
Whatever "almost" happened, it DIDN'T. If I had "almost" gotten rich, I'd still be poor.

Wouldn’t have made much difference. Reaction time & all that. The ships boilers — except for Nevada — were cold. They weren’t moving. The B-17’s weren’t armed and demonstrated later in the war that they couldn’t hit a maneuvering warship.
The only thing that would have changed it, would be if they could have gotten Enterprise within range & hit the Japanese battlegroup from the flank.

I wanted to re-make the Daisy commercial
Someone has done it, kinda. I’ve seen it on FNC last few days.
I’ll post a copy to you if I can find it.

I smell BS. Without any verification from known and reliable defense specialists, I would trust this story about as much as I trust Obama.
To: lbryce
I think this might the same (type) story that hits the news every few years. Making a big deal out of stuff that was previously reported.

I thought so too. We would’ve rebuilt society by getting rid of the liberals. Missed a good chance...

I don’t believe you are thinking incorrectly at all.

Fun times. Thanks for confirming the expected level of cross-checking that occurs in instances like these.
It’s just too bad idiots write articles about “How Close We Came To __________” instead of writing far more intelligent articles about “How Our Procedures Prevent an Accidental WW3.”
Because of wild-eyed headlines like this irresponsible example, I spent much of my life during the Reagan years dispensing mental Thorazine to the frantic libtard children of libtard grown ups, many of whom refused it on the perilous grounds that it might show them to be wrong about something important.
Thanks for your service to us all; bug-eyed howling “no nukes or we’re gonna DIE” libtard moonbats included.
