Donald Trump has a wide lead over his Republican presidential campaign rivals in Alabama, with the businessman and "The Apprentice" star picking up the support of 30 percent of GOP primary voters in the state, according to a poll released Thursday.
Trump's closest opponent, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, had 15 percent of support in the poll conducted by Strategy Research on behalf of WKRG.

Probably name recognition. I think Cruz will move up in Alabama once he's been seen in a few more debates.
Looks like Walker is toast. :=)
They called me the other night. I’m one of the 7%. Cruz or lose, but happy to see Trump up there.
15% is not very high as long as the Bush name has been around Republican politics. And Alabama shares some border with Florida, plus Alabamians flock to the Panhandle beaches. Lot of connections with Florida so many have just heard a lot about Bush and Rubio, especially in south Alabama.
I think they'll drop off once voters start paying closer attention and see a couple more debates and hear the Bush and Rubio stances on issues.
Nice to hear from someone who's been in a poll. They didn't call me.
The south gets it.
Best regards to our southern brothers, from those behind enemy lines on the west coast.
This is not the time to get an accurate poll in Alabama. People are not paying a whole lot of attention to politics. SEC football season is upon us. Priorities, people, priorities. /s
Rubio went to southern schools.
They don’t like Harvard people down there, with good reason.
Not all preferences are based on the issues.
And let me tell you most of us in Alabama are huge Cruz and Carson fans......I just don’t believe that folks in Bama are fooled by this a$$ from Florida!!!!
Gee maybe should answer the phone. What area code?
Well, I carefully screen my calls, and never answer from a strange area code or toll free numbers... But this was a 334 area code.
I’m lucky. Last time I got a call like that it was from the so-called Alabama Sheriff’s Association. But they were not. I heard about them and hung straight up!
Ted Cruz fought the leftists in the Ivy League at every turn. The fact that he emerged stronger than ever from Princeton and Harvard shows that he’s a man of unwavering principle.
Sooooo. First one that provides the tailgate or just shows up at a game wins?
I’m cell only so probably won’t be hearing from any pollsters, though some marketing and computer calls still find me.
Trump+Carson+Fiorina+Cruz=56 ruhroh
He’s good ideologically.
I think he will learn a lot on this campaign cycle and being a youngster will certainly help.
I was very dubious about him based on his election performance in Texas in 2012, but the guy was a rookie then so will cut him some slack.
I expect a few candidates will show up at some SEC games and walk in front of the stands and wave.
Pre-season NFL starting tonight for those really needing a fix.
Yep, the Republican establishment is not looking too popular anywhere. That combo of four is hitting 45% or better most everywhere.
No numbers behind the poll, just 3,500 random calls.
