When I was in my early teens, a senior pastor (probably in his 80s by that time) preaching at a church camp signed one of the inside covers of my Bible and pointed me to a verse to live by. It wouldn’t surprise me if that is what Tim Tebow did. I don’t think it is that unusual.

Tim Tebow has already performed a miracle, he’s turned me into an Iggles fan.

Love Tebow and wish him the very best...

Being a Buccaneer fan, I can never, ever root for the vile, disgusting, zero class Eagles...

2002 playoff NFC game at Veterans Stadium...

How low and despicable someone must be to use the death of a newborn child in an attempt to psychologically undermine an athlete before a sporting event. We all knew the Philadelphia fans were low-brow, but that set the bar at a new low.

I do understand people writing something encouraging in a Bible that they give as a gift. Autographing a Bible that a fan hands you is a bit different.

Not trying to bash Tebow, who is a great Christian who I greatly admire.

Well that and Eagles fans cheering Michael Irvin’s career-ending injury.

I understand that and I am not bashing Tebow, but autographing a Bible like it is a football or a book you wrote just seems a bit off to me. Not the end of the world, and it does not diminish my high opinion of Tebow. It is just something I don’t think should be encouraged.

The Bible the senior pastor signed was one that I already owned and that I wanted to carry around with me and study. It meant something to me at that time in my life that the pastor took the time to sign it and offer a word of exhortation. These days, of course, I would not make a similar request. In any event, I would be very surprised if TT did not cite a verse along with his signature.

I loathed the Eagles when they picked up and their fans supported the dog killer. Things have changed. Tim is a somewhat better role model. Maybe it will rub off on the City of Brotherly Love. All the best, Tim. You are what the sport needs.

“I understand that and I am not bashing Tebow, but autographing a Bible like it is a football or a book you wrote just seems a bit off to me.”

Solution: Don’t ask Tebow to sign your Bible.

Tebow is an excellent example of actually doing kind deeds for youths ... inviting them previously to be present for pro games and having them sit with or next to the players. Tebow sets a good example. MO

I won’t ask him to do so. I still maintain that, unlike a football or a regular book, no man’s signature can add anything to the value of a Bible.

Autographing one could give people the impression (even if it is a false one), that you believe your signature adds value.

Again, not the end of the world, does not make me think less of Tebow, but not a good practice, IMHO.

I see it as respectful of the Lord, not disrespectful. Agree to disagree.
