In a 1992 study, Carson and his colleagues from Johns Hopkins used fetal tissue to better understand how the human brain develops. But in the wake of the Planned Parenthood videos, the presidential candidate has called fetal tissue research disturbing.
Ben Carson, a Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate, previously did research using human fetal tissue.
In the wake of the hidden-camera videos showing Planned Parenthood doctors discussing how to provide aborted fetuses to scientific researchers, Carson has told Fox News that the benefits of this research have been overpromised and under-delivered.
Late on Wednesday, an OB/GYN and science writer Jen Gunter revealed on her blog a 1992 study in which Carson and three other colleagues used tissue from the fetal brain and nasal cavity to better understand the development of the chambers (or ventricles) of the brain. These tissues were obtained from two fetuses aborted at the ninth and and 17th week of gestation, the paper says.
Last month on the Fox News program The Kelly File, Carson said:
At 17 weeks, youve got a nice little nose and little fingers and hands and the hearts beating. It can respond to environmental stimulus. How can you believe that thats just an irrelevant mass of cells? Thats what they want you to believe, when in fact it is a human being.
Aborted fetuses have been used for a wide variety of medical research for decades. The vast majority of scientists who depend on this tissue are refusing to talk about it, afraid of retribution from anti-abortion activists.
As a neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson knows full well that fetal tissue is essential for medical research, Gunter wrote in her post. His discipline would have a hard time being [where] it is today without that kind of work.
A representative from the Carson campaign said they are not commenting at this TIme.
Expect to hear from a high school ex-girlfriend spilling the beans on his ‘roamin’ hands’.
Amazing the dirt the MSM can dig up when they want to .
I’m actually surprised they are going after Carson. He had a great closing line in the debate which saved him from an otherwise poor effort and he showed no depth or substance and a boring delivery. He isn’t going to win and the GOPe is better off with Carson taking away potential Cruz voters, IMO.
It’s coming. Trust me. As soon as they see him as enough of a threat. That’s why if he does nothing else-—and I think he is legit in many ways-—Trump is the armored snowplow that keeps the enemy fire on him as he clears the way.
But he presents a massive threat to the abortion lobby and its connection to black murders. No, they do have to take him and Fiorina out, for different reasons.
Is it true?
This article says it happened in 1992.
Fetal tissue from murdered babies wasn’t legal until 1993:

That makes me think it was from a NATURAL MISCARRIAGE.
Ben Carson will survive...
I thought it was illegal....?
I don’t know Dr. Carson’s thoughts on abortion that many years ago, but I know this.
Some of the most effective, serious, and passionate pro-lifers were once okay with - and even fans of - abortion. They are often our most potent weapons.
There was a never a bigger flip-flopper on abortion in HISTORY than Dr. Bernard Nathanson.
The problem he has is that he has come out and defended what he did saying that it wasn’t wrong because he didn’t actually do the harvesting, that is a weak moral argument.
If he has truly changed his position on abortion since 92 he should say so and admit what he did was wrong not stubbornly defend it.
There was “research” going on before 1993.
I really like Carson.
Carson on Planned Parenthood.

The fact that information was missing from the article, and that the article is a clear hit piece, implies noting untoward took place. If the fetal. Tissue had come via Planned Parenthood style abortion, they’d be screaming it from the rooftops.
Oh, obviously it was a hit piece. You don’t think this was released the day after he was in Harlem talking about how abortion was targeting blacks is a coincidence?
Nothing happens by coincidence. I’m just saying since it’s a hit-piece if they had more damning information, they’d have shared it.
Carson isn’t a front-runner that they’d have to take down piece-by-piece. He’s the guy they’d go after full-bore hoping to get him out in one fell swoop.
that wont be covered by BIG MEDIA
“There’s a big difference between using fetal tissue from a spontaneous loss of pregnancy, or a premie that didn’t make it, etc., than making pre-abortion deals to sell fetal tissue from abortion. I don’t know what Carson did, but this is more attempts at obfuscation by the left. They will say anything to retain power, and have sold many lies and half-truths to the American public over the years.
Well said.
Probably most doctors at one time or another have worked with fetal tissue, but not all will perform an abortion or believe in abortions.
Carson has been a strong Christian all his life, so I’m sure he has always been against abortion. But just because you use fetal tissue in research, doesn’t mean you don’t get sick watching the Planned Parenthood videos and would like to see their tactics banned. It’s not wrong if someone donates their organs or bodies to research. What Planned Parenthood has been up to, is evil.
As you said. This is a hit piece on Dr. Ben Carson.
The research is not described in detail, but as I understand it the fetus had died of natural causes. To me this is the difference between doing an autopsy to partake in research and cutting a person up while the person is alive an calling it research.
Out of curiosity what makes you think that the fetal tissue he used came from a miscarriage?
