Carly Fiorina Criticizes Donald Trump on Planned Parenthood Funding: You Sound Like a Democrat
Life News ^ | Aug 12, 2015 | Steven Ertelt

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, who is pro-life, today criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump after he appeared to waffle on de-funding Planned Parenthood in two interviews on Tuesday.

Donald Trump continues to talk about the Planned Parenthood abortion business and, in a new interview late Tuesday, he said Planned Parenthood should possibly be de-funded if it doesn’t stop doing abortions. That seems almost a guarantee since abortion is the central component of Planned parenthood’s business — though the Republican candidate didn’t appear to know that.

Some pro-life advocates have interpreted comments from Trump as essentially allowing Planned Parenthood to continue receiving $550 million in taxpayer funding since it doesn’t separate its abortion business from everything else it does.

Fiorina, who herself said she supports a government shutdown if Planned Parenthood is not de-funded, took Trump to task over his remarks and said they make him sound like a Democrat. Here’s more:

“Unfortunately, I think Mr. Trump is taking the Democrat Party’s talking points on Planned Parenthood,” Fiorina said in an interview released by CBS News on Wednesday.

“There are many other organizations that exist to help women with their health issues — pap smears, mammograms, et cetera,” added Fiorina, who has climbed in the polls following her widely praised performance at last week’s debate.

“In fact, Planned Parenthood does very few mammograms, just as one example, but what they do is a whole lot of abortions,” she said.

Fiorina made similar marks in a new interview with the Weekly Standard:

“I profoundly disagree with that statement by Donald Trump,” said the former Hewlett-Packard CEO. “They need to be defunded. There are many organizations that provide the kind of services that he mentioned. Planned Parenthood must be defunded.”

Tuesday morning on CNN, Trump said he supported de-funding the abortion aspects of Planned Parenthood but thought funding for non-abortion components ought to remain — which had pro-life advocates concerned he would leave the status quo of $550 million in taxpayer funding in place.

Then last night, Trump appeared on the Sean Hanity show and wrongly claimed that abortion was a small part of the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Trump said: “There’s two Planned Parenthoods, in a way. You have it as an abortion clinic. Now that’s actually a fairly small part of what they do, but it’s a brutal part. And I’m totally against that and I wouldn’t do that. They also, however, service women. And one of the things that I thought was so terrible, when Jeb Bush the other day talked about women’s health issues he was so bad. It’s like what is he doing? We have to help women. A lot of women are helped. So we have to look at the positives also for Planned Parenthood.”

Them, Hannity corrected Trump and pointed out that Planned Parenthood does 330,000 abortions a year and that funding its non-abortion aspects frees up money to promote and perform abortions. Responding to that, Trump said “maybe” Planned Parenthood should be de-funded.

“Maybe unless they stop with the abortions, we don’t do the funding for the stuff that we want,” Trump said.

She is not trying to be elected. She is running for VP.

Well that's certainly a relief.

So in your estimation, 42% to 52% is close. LOL

Dave W., your desperation is showing.

She held Boxer to 52.2%?

Boxer held her to a 42.2%.

Fiorina got 81% of the votes Boxer did. 42.2/52.2

Boxer got 19% more votes.

In your estimation that’s close right. So I’m lying when I say she got pulverized?

What would you consider pulverized, 20% less, 25% less, 30% less?

Getting 19% more votes that Fiornia, Boxer pulverized her.

Nice try.

Just one more resume enhancer to you folks... ROTF

I think DAve W. realizes he’s got a candidate with no credentials.

He hasn’t got much else to do except spout “Liar”.

BTW, History has a long list of names, and prisons are filled with people that, if aborted, would have SAVED MILLIONS of innocent lives and the world would have been or would be a better place. Well, as long as it was done before the 20 week threshold, to make it acceptable.

I doubt anyone who constantly goes around and says, "He's stupid...she's an idiot....and this or not, hardly has any intellectual qualities to be president.

He has 22,500 qualities that I find compelling.  Those are individuals he employs.  Trump has been a force for good in 22,500 households.  He provides a service to tens if not hundreds of thousands of guests each year.

He has a net worth of between $5 and $10 billion.  And yet you state he has no intellectual qualities, but Fiorina does.

Once again, what has Fiorina done in her life to justify her being considered to be presidential?  We both know there's nothing you can point to.

She is a failed CEO, with nothing but a failed stint in that position for H.P.  That's her claim to fame.

She didn't start her own business.  She didn't develop her own empire.  She hasn't employed anyone.  She hasn't held public office.

She ran for the U. S. Senate and lost big.

On one level, I would love to see someone with his bluster and hot air run the government. It really wouldn't bother me if he personally insulted nearly everyone he came into contact with.

LMAO, you trash the guy and then admit he's what we need.

As president, he may think he can order everyone around, but he can't. He would find massive resistance in the civil service and they have rules and union contracts to fall back on that he can't void.

And that's why your candidate isn't going anywhere, and mine is.

You just can't rescind rules. You need hearings, time for public comments, etc, etc. When Bush was president, his folks tried to rescind a host of rules and regs and they are always taken to court and the judges most often came up with excuses as to why the rules and regs can't be rescinded. There is absolutely nothing he can do about it.

I could go on.

I'm sure you will.  As a supporter of Fiorina, you've already got her excuses cataloged.

From time to time we disagree pretty strongly, but on Fiorina we agree completely. She destroyed HP and apparently feels no shame about doing so...

In her run for U.S. Senate back in 2010, she said that she would have likely voted for Sonia Sotommayor’s nomination to the Supreme Court and that abortion rights would not be her litmus test for approving a Supreme Court nominee.

Carly: “I do not believe where a potential judicial nominee stands on that issue (of abortion) is a qualifier or an unqualifier.” She also said that “Roe v. Wade” was a “decided issue.”

Now the GOP primary can be boiled down to everyone accusing each other of being a democrat.

Was she the one that advised McCain to treat Sarah Palin like sh!t when her popularity surpassed his?

Bobby Jindal's state, Louisiana, is (for the FIFTH year in a row) the most pro-life state in the nation, and yet, he remains at the bottom of the polls, and Trump, a man who believes as recently as June, 2015, "Ban late abortions; exceptions for rape, incest or health," has done well in the polls.
"America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has shown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father's role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts ~ a child ~ as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience.

"It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign." -Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, "Notable and Quotable," Wall Street Journal, 2/25/94

Trump will correct his PP comments very, very soon. Being a man, and a very busy businessman until recently, I’m sure he isn’t up on all the nuances of PP. Believe me, he will be shortly and you will hear a correction, and/or modification of his Tuesday remarks. He’ll fix it.
