After this quarter’s goal has been crossed, would you please consider making Free Republic the VERY FIRST NATIONAL FORUM that frowns upon the use of useless abbreviations such as LOL, ROTFLMAO, and other similar non-responsive posting expressions. Thank you.

After the budget is met, please consider suggesting to FReepers how childish (girlish) this LOL, LMAO kind of retort is when posted to practically anything even slightly humorous on FR. Other ways to express one’s appreciation of humor exist...using actual words.
In recent months, though, LOL on FR has been utilized primarily as a put-down to any other FR poster’s sincere comment. Used as a childish weapon, even. An Alinksy type of tool. Not FRiendly or civil at all. Besides, LOL has become passe to even Middle Schoolers.
The world would be a better place.
