Donald Trump, who last week wanted to defund Planned Parenthood, now isn't so sure.
After saying last week it's worth having Congress shut down the federal government unless Planned Parenthood is stripped of its $528 million in government funding, the Republican presidential candidate changed his tune.
Speaking on CNN's "New Day" Tuesday morning, Trump said that before defunding Planned Parenthood entirely, he would look at the positive aspects of the organization.
"I would look at the good aspects of it, and I would also look because I'm sure they do some things properly and good for women. I would look at that, and I would look at other aspects also, but we have to take care of women," he said. "The abortion aspect of Planned Parenthood should absolutely not be funded."
I have a question. What if the Islamic State had good health clinics for women, where women could get breast exams, pap smears, and their hair and nails done for free? And what if we could donate to these ISIS clinics and be 100% sure that our money would not go to mass executions or genocide, which is also a hallmark of ISIS? Would it be proper to give money to their women's clinics?

Well at least he’s being consistent.
Why has no one ^publicly^ made the connection regarding the “unborn as non-viable tissue” to harvesting the formed organs from them to further research in human health?
If the human organs are viable and should be protected, why isn’t the unborn child extended the same understanding?
Trump dug himself into a hole. I think he softened on PP because he got advice he from his advisors he was polling poorly with women after all of his negative press (most brought on by his poorly thought out twitter antics).
So he thought he could thread the needle with respect to PP.
What he does not realize, is under the law, federal funding to PP cannot be directly used for abortion, so what he was claiming to support is actually current law.
Trump also does not understand the Pro-Life conservative opinion on federal funding is money is fungible, and it is simply an accounting exercise to use federal money indirectly for abortion, so Pro-Life conservatives want no federal funding for PP.
Secondly, small-government fiscal conservatives want no federal funding to a private organization.
Trump’s comments on funding PP violated both social and fiscal conservatives beliefs on the subject.
Trump has a B-Team of advisors. Roger Stone was such a B-Teamer, having previously worked for Arlen Specter’s and Al Sharpton’s presidential campaigns. Trump would be wise to hire Dick Morris, who knows both how to triangulate and to manage populist campaigns.
regarding fungibility....... I thought he said that there will be no funds for an organization that carries out abortions. the deal was not to restrict funding for abortions and allow it for all else.
He didn’t flip flop. He said clearly during the CNN, that he would stop funding the abortions and that he would look at the rest.
Trump just spent 30+ minutes on the phone with Jeffrey Kuhner
(WRKO Live Stream) and he said exactly that.
Defund PP abortion clinics and look at the % of other services they provide. That is consideration. Not knee-jerk reactionary rhetoric.
He also interupted Jeff to tell him what a great person Ted Cruz is.
Strong Message: AMERICA FIRST
RE>He didnt flip flop
I like Cruz also but Trump seems to be what America needs. The Cruz supporters are getting desperate and KNOW that Cruz can’t beat Trump. The personal attacks and insults are starting to turn me away from Cruz fans if that is the supporters Cruz has there is a problem he won’t be able to overcome.
Yeah, I've had the same problem. I'm keep trying to remind myself that Cruz wouldn't endorse the tactics of some of his supporters on FR. But the bottom line is the economy and Trump gets it, Cruz doesn't.
GeronL was even making false allegations against Trump's wife. That's really low.

Well said.
Trump just keeps on flip-flopping, just like J F’n sKerry.
I think he focused on not financing abortion, right?

Best Brain Fart posted on FR in months!

All they really do is abortion.
The “women’s clinic” canard is fool’s fodder.
Free Republic GOP primary hatred never ceases to amaze
It gives so many Freepers an excuse to do what come natural to them
Be nasty
I think they do some other medicare welfare health services as well.
You Cruz to lose guys can be annoying.
He said a few minutes ago on Lou Dobbs that he would defund Planned Parenthood, and do a complete investigation of them. If they are back-dooring abortion funding is gone forever. Lou and Ann Coulter were pleased.
Trump has to tread lightly here or risk giving the abominable MSM new “WAR ON WOMEN” screaming points that they can hector him with until the end of time.
He’s trying to thread the needle. No sense giving your enemies ammo.
Golly gee, blaming Trump for the acts of those who have and still continue to fund the sacrificing babes in the womb, well, is just plain “social justice” liberalism!
I believe he said originally he did not want to fund abortions but was ok funding other women’s health issues.
