Campaign Releases Video Montage of Excitement at #CruzCountry Bus Tour Events

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Cruz for President campaign has released a video halfway through his #CruzCountry bus tour highlighting the overwhelming crowds that are turning out to his events throughout the Southern states. No event has had fewer than 500 people, with the largest crowd nearing 2,000 mark. Combined, all the states he will visit represent 356 of the 1,236 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination.

Hope the turnout in Memphis was good.
Babysitting a niece kept me from going.

And every single one of these states as well as Texas is forced to have proportional delegates by the GOP because they come before March 15th.

Meanwhile almost all the primaries after that that can be winner-take-all are blue RINO states. This is how the GOP has stacked the deck against conservatives this time. Cruz can win all these states, but still fail to pick up many of the delegates. But if he wins 49% of Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc., he might get no delegates from them.

Here is a good listing by state of the GOP delegate allocations. This site
has detailed info on many aspects of the political process.

Thanks for the link to Green Papers. I had forgotten about that site. The following rule is pertinent, and one that I had been unaware of:

Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a majority of ... delegates from ... 8 or more states ... [T]he affirmative written support ... shall have been submitted to the secretary of the convention ... prior to the placing of the names of candidates for nomination .... [Rule 40(b)]

If any candidate entered for nomination on the first ballot must demonstrate the written support of eight or more states before the convention, that severely limits the number of candidates who can be entered for nomination, effectively FORCING delegates to be freed up.

While John Ellis Bush has a decent chance of picking up half a dozen northeast state, plus Florida and California, this leaves little room for most of the other candidates. I am working under the assumption that all this goes away after the first ballot, but frankly, it is a crappy rule.

Cruz is wise to pick an entire section of the country (Bible belt and maybe the Mountain states), as it will be hard to get eight states if this flavor of the month business continues. The five states with the most delegates are California, Texas, New York, Florida and Georgia. Cruz is making a big play for Texas and Georgia. Right now it NY and FL could very easily go for John Ellis Bush.

If Trump is still going strong come 2016, it might well make sense for Cruz to encourage his supporters to go with Trump in those northeastern states and maybe Florida to deny John Ellis Bush wins. These rules encourage all sorts of Tomfoolery, and don't allow much room for buyer's remorse, even if the buyer only represents 25% of the voters with a crowded field.

Hopefully some tickets are freed up for the Oklahoma City event which is all booked up. Otherwise it’s the rallies in the northern part of the state.

I think the Green Papers site is one of the best I’ve seen. It gives info over
a lot of subjects and presents it in a reasonable format. I’ve used it over many
years and I’m always finding new info.

Take care.
