SAN FRANCISCO The San Francisco Medical Examiner says a man whose dismembered body was found in a suitcase is a homicide victim.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1DGxg6F) Tuesday that authorities have not said if they've located a crime scene in the killing of 58-year-old Omar Shahwan.
The determination means authorities believe Shahwan was killed before he was dismembered.
His headless torso was stuffed in a suitcase and left in front of a store about a week after he left his suburban San Francisco home on Jan. 21. His leg was tossed into a nearby trash bin, and his head and hands remain missing. A week later the suitcase was found. No arrests have been made.
A suspect died in a hospital of drug-related complications in February.

Well let’s not get carried away.
I think they have a handle on it.
“...authorities believe Shahwan was killed before he was dismembered”
Glad they have that settled.
More carrion luggage...............
I saw that movie just last month!...............
This has been a Quinn Martin Hartin Barton & Fargo Production!
LOL, "he had such a strong wish to die that he chopped off his head, and then climbed into a suitcase, locking it from the inside. A concerned passerby noted the abandoned suitcase and moved it to a remote location where it was later found, apparently not noticing the head that had rolled away from the scene."
Ping!...............
Say what?!? I had it pegged as a definite suicide.
Does Cecile Richards have an alibi?
If the suitcase had been found in Arkansas: suicide.
Of course, the ruling of homicide is only provisional, until they find out the race and immigration status of the suspect.
Yes, relative receiving bennies, maybe? Don't want that gravy train to end...
Not saying that's what happened here, but how many other stories have you seen where someone in the family hides Granny's death from everyone to continue collecting SSI, etc...?
We need to know if the dentist who killed Cecil the lion was in SF in January!
I think it’s going viral. ;)
