Trump Up, Bush and Walker Down in First Big Post-Debate Poll [23%]

If you thought Donald Trump’s boisterous debate performance and subsequent comments about Fox News’ Megyn Kelly might hurt his standing in the polls, you might be very wrong.

In the first major poll to be released since Thursday night’s debate, NBC News and Survey Monkey found Trump holding onto his first place position with 23% of the hypothetical vote. Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, who were each at 10% in the same survey a week earlier, both dropped three points to 7% each, tied for a disappointing fifth place.

Ted Cruz saw the biggest post-debate bump, up seven points to 13%, putting him second to Trump. Carly Fiorina saw a six point bump to reach 8%, her highest position in any national poll to date.

Ben Carson came in third place with 11% in NBC’s poll, while Marco Rubio was tied for fourth place with Fiorina at 8%. However, a margin of error at 3.4% helps put these shifts in a bit more perspective.

Fiorina was deemed the winner of debate night despite not appearing on the primetime stage, with 22% of respondents saying she did the best job. And while Trump came in second place in that contest with 18%, he also topped the list of candidates who did the worst job with 29%

Best news is on Cruz. Not bad for a guy who got an intentional walk.

Not bad for a guy who got an intentional walk.

Laughed a little at that one. And this intentional walk was not situational, but more like the ones Bryce Harper had been getting up until recently. I don't think the trio of snark wanted anything to do with pitching real questions at Cruz.

According to Morning Consult, Trump’s favorability rating has risen to 62 percent since last week’s tracking poll, making him the most popular GOP presidential candidate.

It was easy to predict trump’s number would go up. I would also like to see what Megyn Kelly’s rating do. because everywhere I look, people disagree with what she did just 2 questions into it.

Nope.

He was at 24-28% in the polls before the debate and dropped in the NBC News and Survey Monkey poll at 23%.

The internals also showed that people gave their response to whom they thought won and lost the debate.

Trump lost with 29%, by far the highest percentage of all the candidates.

I noted in an early post that all the outsiders/non-politicos are pulling at 54% (Cruz is in this category because he is attacking the GOP leadership).

If there is not so good news for Trump is that he stayed the same in the polls. Which means he lost opportunity with the anti-policals to Cruz, Carly and Carson.

Either way, the race is shaping into a true anti-Washington race.

And what are you doing citing Mediaite as your source?

I thought that Freepers say that is a libbbbberal outfit?

I guess they no longer think they are liberal. Or is it if it looks good for The Donald, then it must be good/okay now?

At this point, I like Trump providing cover for Cruz and driving the anti-Washington sentiment of the public discourse. But I don’t think he walks away from this as the candidate. His “reality show” campaign has an initial appeal, but I question it’s staying power once it starts to go into syndication.

>> He keeps on going strong!

You’re burying the lede.

The real news is Cruz breaking out of the middle to come in second.

Followed by Fiorina moving up from the kiddie table.

And the biggest thrill is watching Jethro Bush sink into the mire.

There are aspects of Trump’s candidacy I like. For example, I like it that he is attacking the democrat/communist media propaganda complex, not begging and groveling for forgiveness for perceived violations of politically correct protocol. I also like that he is from outside the Washington political class. The federal government has grown so large and pervasive that it recognizes no constraint on its power; not by the people, not by the Congress. It is way overdue for some serious pruning. No one who has been part of that system is going to get out the pruning shears and use them.

So it has to be someone in Trump’s position. My reservations are about the man himself. He seems erratic and too much of a loose cannon, too reflexive to lunge and bite at every perceived slight. My neighbor’s dog does that. I don’t like my neighbor’s dog.

Who would have ever thought. Trump and Cruz are 1 and 2. Maybe they should learn how to speak from Bush and Graham.

” Jeb Bush....at 10% in the same survey a week earlier... dropped three points to 7%.... tied for a disappointing fifth place. “

This poll unfairly omitted Mexico.

By all means the conservative media should keep attacking him and his supporters.

What better way for him to “implode” and leave the race. /s

From thehill.com

“Trump’s support increased by 7 points to 32 percent, according to this week’s Morning Consult tracking poll.

The real estate mogul’s closest rival — Jeb Bush — lost a point, dipping to 11 percent of the vote among self-identified Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

Support for all other candidates was in the single-digits”

I’m for Cruz, but if Trump is the only way to keep ¡Yeb! from being nominated, I’m good with that.

I’m never voting to become North Mexico.
That’s what a vote for ¡Yeb! is, make no mistake about it.
