Somewhere between people fleeing the tyranny of monarchy and the class system and the unfair practices it fostered, the folks looking for the freedom to practice their deeply held religious beliefs those ordinary human beings who only wanted a chance to control their own lives and fortunes with their wits and sweat and the adventurers who wanted to be a part of taming a new land yes, somewhere between this breed of men and women and the present day, America's train has jumped the track.
There was a time when a mule and 40 acres was considered a sufficient starting place for a person to stand on their own two feet and begin to build his fortune. A little hard work and good planning could result in a good lifestyle and a healthy nest egg to see him through his golden years.
There were no entitlements, no health insurance and no government subsidies for a failing crop or a bankrupt business venture. The only safety net available was the grace of God and what you could either grow, shoot or catch, and that was all you had to live on.

Hat tip to dware for the heads up.
Unfortunately, I think we’ve allowed the bureaucrats to control enough of our nations resources, vital industries, etc..., for enough time for them to have put locks in place - insuring THEIR power and control, so that it’s already too late.
America the great is no more.
The Washington cartel wants you reliant on Big Government with lots of crooked people in charge.
Now it's a mule and 40 kilos.
No, the Washington cartel wants most of you dead, the rest in chains.
Ok, I don’t care who you are, that’s funny.
We don’t need to LEARN self-reliance, we need to pass it on as some of our parents did to/for us.
(before it’s forgotten and THEN has to be learned/re-learned)
Like working out to “stay in shape”.
This guy is a some sort of racist.
Round is a shape.
Besides, how many muscles does it take to punch the numbers on an ATM machine anyway?
If America is to be set back on its proper foundations, and rebuilt for the sake of our posterity, the impetus for that restoration can only come from the bottom up, from the individual citizen who has gotten his heart right with God, and learned how to properly conduct himself and treat his neighbors.

God bless Charlie Daniels.
Well, it probably would like to replace me with an illegal alien.
No, the Washington cartel wants most of you dead, the rest in chains.
I’m 69. Was raised by parents who fought (literally!) WWII, grandparents who raised farm animals & plowed with mule, took their numerous children to church in a farm wagon pulled by the farm horse. - This modern thing of kids refusing to eat anything if it doesn’t have a slice of pizza hanging off of it is just foreign to me. - I’m old & have probably lived too long & the idea of gender confusion is . . . something I’m too busy to ponder. - If people had to dig in the dirt & plant a few garden seed if they want to keep from starving; maybe they’d shut up.
I’m collecting both fiction and nonfiction books by and about American pioneers settlers and native Americans. You can learn all sorts of skills. For instance, many early pioneers dug a hole, covered it over with a thatch roof and a stovepipe sticking up out of the ground. This was an insulated shelter during the more labor-intensive period of cutting trees and building a permanent cabin. The cabin could be built over the underground hovel, which then became the root cellar.
There are also lots of good books from the back to the land hippies of the 60s and 70s. The Foxfire books stand out.
