Donald Trump And The 'War On Women': GOP Confident Mogul Will Lose The Battle
Ben Jacobs and Lauren Gambino 9 August 2015 It has been a dizzying few days for Donald Trump. But as the dust swirls from his latest provocation a controversial remark about Fox News moderator Megyn Kelly the party that has until now begrudgingly tolerated him has shown itself ready to cut him loose.
As Democrats focused with glee on Trumps remark and what it may say about the so-called Republican war on women, GOP strategists said they expected the real-estate mogul would not stay the course.
On Saturday one strategist, Liz Mair, told the Guardian: Its a very good thing for the GOP that Trump is basically self-destructing in front of our eyes.
Trumps latest controversy exploded in an interview with CNN on Friday, when he appeared to imply that Kelly had questioned him so directly in the first debate on Thursday when she quizzed him about his previous derogatory statements about women because she was menstruating.
The real-estate mogul, who thanks to his poll numbers took centre stage in Cleveland on Thursday night, said Kelly had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.
The remark earned him criticism from his own party, as well as from Democrats. On Friday and Saturday, several Republican challengers piled on.
What Donald Trump said is wrong, Jeb Bush told conservative activist Erick Erickson, who uninvited Trump from the RedState Gathering in Atlanta, which he organizes, after the candidates attack on Kelly.
Your decision, I think, was the right one, Bush added. Mr Trump ought to apologize.

Why would anyone listen to the drivel that comes from The Guardian? Every Brit on FB is running stupid articles about Trump.
LOL... They have tolerated him so far, that writer is living in an illusion, they are and have been doing everything they can to get rid of him since he announced no matter how ridiculous they look in their attempts..
GOPe confident? Nope, that’s the Viagra!
The confident Commies of the Guardian know? Yeah sure they do.
I’ll bet Trump employes more single parent moms that the Guardian does.
CNN just had 2 women on the show “Race for 2016” and Marosa Manigault, a former Apprentice contestant, said she felt the questions asked of him were uncalled for and prevented him from talking about all the good he can do for women. Katrina Campins with Trump International said “TRUMP HAS BEEN TAKING A LOT OF HEAT FOR BEING THE ONLY ONE TO RAISE HIS HAND REGARDING THE QUESTION ABOUT SUPPORTING ANY CANDIDATE WHO WINS THE NOMINATION AND I FOUND OUT LATER THAT 3 CONTESTANTS HAD THREATENED TO BOYCOTT THE DEBATE IF TRUMP WAS THERE.”
War on women? The GOPe is waging a war on America!
Screw you, GOP!! We’re not going to support your amnesty pimp!!
Dream on, Guardian.
Trump will most probably not be the nominee, but should he make it, I’ll vote for him way, way before I’d allow the Hillabeast in office.
Oh, and I’ll try and follow established progressive traditions, and vote many many times.
This is an excellent example of the GOP(no need for e), folding like a cheap suit. Accepting the democrat claim of a war on women and running from it.
I sure don’t respect them or their RINO candidates.
Did she mean candidates rather than contestants?
And the House. The RATs theme in 2016 could very well be “We told you nothing would change. So come home.”
The only two things the Whig faction of the Uni-party is good for are: 1) snatching defeat from the jaws of victory; and 2) being compliant lapdogs for the Communist faction.
All the other networks see this as a chance to take viewers away from Fox. They’ll be inviting Trump on every show. They’re whores, after all.
I hope Trump gets the message to start tweeting “Will any of the other candidates support me if I win the nomination?”
Most of the GOPe candidates are getting flat growth with regard to Twitter following.
Social media will decide our next president (as it decided the last one).

There is a psychological aspect of this the pundits are missing. There are a lot of women who may look at Trump as some kind of Bad Boy and like him for that reason. I remember the Seinfeld episode where George buffed up his Bad Boy image to get a girl friend. Happens every day and who knows maybe there a percentage of women who look at Trump that way and like it.
I think this whole thing by Trump is another scam but hell, if the entire lineup of has beens and never was gonna be’s are going to synthetically act offended then Eff em.
All...
The GOPe and the republican leaders, along with the democrat leaders are so afraid that Trump will ruin their exclusive “good ‘ol boy” club in Washington...They bluster and “fight” and argue against one another in public, but when behind closed doors in DC, they get together and laugh at how they’ve “pulled the wool” over their sheep’s eyes...They are nothing more than cohorts in a scheme to enrich themselves at the cost of the normal, everyday Americans who work their collective a$$e$ off to keep this country running.
They are scared to death that Trump will come in and wreck their scheme...
