i imagine the GOPe is dumbfounded - WHAT??? Trump isn’t cowering, hunkering down and only making appearances to apologize? and announce his withdrawal to “spend more time with the family”??
As Randy Jackson used to say on American Idol - “he’s in it to win it!”
The media turned politics into reality television, and now a bona fide reality television star, who understands how the game is played, has them flummoxed. He knows he is playing the "villain", but guess what? The villain gets the ratings! As long as he gets all of the attention, he harms the other candidates who are spending money to get their message out.
Well, he's on 3 of 4 Sunday shows. I don't understand how that relates to "No publicity is bad publicity"
Exactly, if for no other reason, at least Trump will teach these guys a lesson in how to never apologize.
You never hear a liberal apologize.
Yeah, but Fox News will have ratings superstars Karl Rove and Chris Wallace to balance it out.
Free advertising IMO
My mom had a saying which I will never forgot. She said never start a fight but if the other guy does, don’t back away from one either. If the political playing field were level and common sense prevailed we wouldn’t have to fight. Today, all I have seen are Republicans backing away from a fight. Enter Mr. Trump. He practices what my mom taught. HE DOESN’T BACK AWAY FROM A FIGHT! He may get down and dirty BUT he doesn’t back away. Ted Cruz doesn’t back away either.
See you on the screen! Go Trump!!!!!
It’s late and Trump fatigue is setting in.....
Which Book?
Trump has about 16 books.
I’m reading some of them
My dad, who was an amateur boxer, used to say the same thing. Never start a fight, but never run from one either. He was a New Yorker, so I understand Trump’s brashness, raw determination and willingness to fight for what he believes in. That isn’t necessarily a NY thing, but, I’ve seen that spirit in New Yorkers first hand. They can also appear rude and aloof, but, most aren’t really that way. Their lifestyles are just rush, rush, busy, busy for the most part. They don’t seem to have a lot of time for relaxation. Of course, this isn’t true for every New Yorker, but, I saw this spirit and attitude in my dad. He lived in Manhattan and it was a very busy, rushed lifestyle.
Years ago, I used to do customer service for a company where we had to call customers about their bills, etc. They assigned me to NY, because I understood them and got along very well with them. They can be a tough bunch that’s for sure.
Alpha Male
Yeah gotta respect Trump’s grit. He caught holy Hades today and just sat back, fired off a couple of tweets and prepared to hit the Sunday show circuit. No recoiling in fear or hiding. He knows the minute he apologizes or lets them sideline him even for a day he has ceded ground and became weak. He ain’t going anywhere - he has the stomach and the resources to absorb all the body blows and manufactured scandals, and at some point its not Trump everyone will be sick of but those who look increasingly desperate to take him out.
Once he apologizes, it’s all over, he has no choice now but to double down.
You’re kidding, right?
Trump has just faced 36 straight hours of being pilloried in the town square. He has been chastised and criticized across the political spectrum. Every single political PR person would tell him that the last thing he needs to do is go on a show like this, where the sharks in the media smell fresh blood, and run the risk of making things worse.
But what he has done is throw all of that back in their face. It doesn’t matter what they do to him. It doesn’t matter how big of an ambush or how nasty and critical they make him appear, he understands publicity in a show-business sense and that is how he is running his campaign.
When others would shy away from publicity at this point, he puts himself on the three biggest shows out there.
He won’t apologize. In his mind, he didn’t start it. All he can do is keep on keepin’ on, and get his message out there.
“There is no such thing as bad publicity.”
“Any publicity is good publicity.”
