Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may have outscored his fellow candidates in talk-time during Thursday night's GOP primary debate, but Republican strategist and CBS News contributor Frank Luntz said he saw the "destruction of a candidacy."
"Trump was the number one person walking into that debate. Almost all of his supporters (of the focus group) abandoned him because of what he said," Luntz said Friday on "CBS This Morning."

Duntz...
LUNTZ the DUNCE—Any body with 2 brain cells to rub together could see that his test group was a hand picked group of useful idiots.
Luntz is a fraud and his focus groups are nothing more than a carefully orchestrated group of stooges pulled together to drive public opinion not to reflect it.
He looks like one of those know-it-all blowhard drunkards you’d have the misfortune to run into at the downtown bar.
Luntz: The pollster who got it so wrong in ‘12 and was so upset that Romney didn’t get elected that he became very depressed and held up in his mansion for three weeks (barely talking to anybody). He was upset he couldn’t persuade people anymore. What a fraud...

Figures - incredible
Cha-ching!!
I thought his comments about McCain were his destruction
Not much of a strategist...
Not straight looks like..
Two days ago I started following Trumps tweets. this morning I stopped listening to him tootin on his trumpet about himself and will stay with Cruz.
If he is wrong no one will hire him to be on TV with a focus group ever again.
He’s a grade school apple polisher.
Hi jimbo123,
I think the thing that bothers me most about any of Luntz’s focus groups is the way they are screened. We have no idea what he included in that Geoup. It is stupid for him to ask for a show of hands on those “for” Trump before the debate, and those “against” him after the debate. I’d like to see interview recordings prior to selection. It seems strange to me that for a legitimate focus group he would include numbers different than the general populace. Luntz’s does not have sufficient integrity for me to believe him. His selection criteria is never revealed. After last night, I suspect that there were quite a few ringers.
My memory is that Luntz’s achieved his 15 minutes of fame in 1994; I think I heard he was the “creator” of the Contract With America and given to Gingrich. Anyone confirm?
Gwjack
Luntz cans his focus groups for the outcome he wants and then goes and sells it for weeks later. He was made a fool of once again since poll after poll is saying just the opposite.
Ha! Nailed it.
Here’s a question. Where in the heck did the audience come from? Were they screened and coached?
The CIA has really done a lot of work to upgrade their cosmetic abilities.. Pigs in lipstick .. No problem.
Cruz, however, wants this.
So moderates/RINOs didn’t like him. And...
