HOUSTON, Texas — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, issued the following statement in response to the decision by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Texas’ Voter ID Law:
“Today’s decision by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals is profoundly disappointing. There is nothing ‘discriminatory’ about a law that protects the legitimate votes of American citizens and promotes the integrity of our elections which is precisely what Texas’ commonsense Voter ID Law does.
“Im encouraged to hear that Governor Abbott intends to continue fighting to combat voter fraud, and it is my sincere hope this ruling is ultimately reversed so that the State of Texas may ensure that the vote of every Texan counts.”
As Texas Solicitor General, Sen. Cruz authored an amicus brief on behalf of eight states in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, defending the Indiana Voter ID Law at the U.S. Supreme Court where it was concluded that voter ID laws are constitutional and “unquestionably relevant to the State’s interest in protecting the integrity and reliability of the electoral process.

Thanks. HOORAY Ted Cruz.
Tell the 5th to lay off the fifth.
What does one do when courts render decisions so blatantly illogical and distorted? Are government entities obligated to comply with utter nonesense?
It discriminates against Democrats.
Quietly attach it to something and enact it again.
Ya can’t even sign your kid up to play Little League baseball without a birth certificate.
Our court system has become lawless, too. . . Ted Cruz ought to make the claim on the campaign trail that the Democrats are responsible for our current lawless court system. . . because they are.
They’re giving away our country and we’re just sitting around dithering and keyboarding.
In order to enter the Federal Courthouse, both in the District Court and the Appellate Court, guess what the plaintiffs in this case had to do?
If you answered: “Show photo ID,” congratulations. You win a cookie.
“Are government entities obligated to comply with utter nonesense?”
No, in most cases they passed the test. They are so perverted
they are easily compromised. Ever wonder why so many politicians
are closet faggs, pedophiles, drunkards and womanizers? That’s
because the establishment prefers that they be easily
compromised so
they can be controlled.
Cruz bump.
I agree
Abbott should just declare Texas a “sanctuary state” where federal laws are null and void.
"In order to enter the Federal Courthouse, both in the District Court and the Appellate Court, guess what the plaintiffs in this case had to do? If you answered: Show photo ID, congratulations. You win a cookie."
Fantastic point. The question I have is whether any of these solicitor generals ( or whatever ) had the sense to argue that to the judges: "Your honor, the state is demanding nothing more than the same security that this very court employs at its front door, and at airports, and at state legislatures".
Furthermore, unlike the enemy who never lets up, our guys when they lose these simple cases always fail to walk out in front of the courthouse to the waiting cameras and make a statement like: "We are extremely disappointed with the double-standard displayed by judge 'so-and-so'. They have displayed wanton hypocrisy in demanding photo ID before you can enter their courtroom but denying it to the taxpaying and voting public. As they are clearly 'discriminating against the poor with this requirement we are asking the state legislature to begin immediate impeachment proceedings".
Of course that would require both a working frontal lobe and a pair of ~ahem~ stones.
"Supreme Court Allows Texas to Use Strict Voter ID Law in Coming Election"
OCT. 18, 2014
"WASHINGTON The Supreme Court on Saturday allowed Texas to use its strict voter identification law in the November election. The courts order, issued just after 5 a.m., was unsigned and contained no reasoning. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg issued a six-page dissent saying the courts action risks denying the right to vote to hundreds of thousands of eligible voters. "
