Sen. Cruz: We Should Not Rest Until We Have Done Everything in Our Power to Protect the Lives of Unborn Children

Calls for continued effort to defund Planned Parenthood

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tonight issued the following statement after S.1881, a bill to prohibit federal funding of Planned Parenthood, failed to reach the 60-vote threshold required for cloture:

"Last week, the Senate had an opportunity to stop the unconscionable use of taxpayer funds to murder unborn children. Instead, Republican leadership blocked a recorded vote on amendments to defund Planned Parenthood.

"Although the effort to reach cloture on a standalone bill failed tonight, this should not deter us in the fight to eliminate taxpayers' funds being used to bankroll the abortion industry and what appears to be the ongoing criminal organization of Planned Parenthood.

"I encourage my colleagues to continue to fight to defund this organization that places more value on the sale price of babies' body parts than it does on the sanctity of human life. We should not rest until we have done everything in our power to protect the life of unborn children. Ensuring no additional federal dollars go to the abortion industry or Planned Parenthood is a good place to start. This is why it is critical that we stand together to insist that not another dollar of our hard-earned money goes to a group profiting from the buying and selling of the body parts of babies."

I know he’s done a few decent things as Governor of WI, but Mitt Walker is GOP-e, through and through.

If he’s the last man standing after the primary, I’ll vote third party for the top slot, and vote straight R on the down ticket races.

Sorry, I thought I saw you post about living in Northern CA. My mistake.

Hopefully after first of the year, I’ll be one of your New Mexico Neighbors.

PS, I will bring the one set of teeth from Appalachia. :)

Thats mean. you can’t hood the teeth like that. The Children man! What of the children!?!?!?!? ;)

I lived in Cali a couple times. Once in the late 70s as a kid and later for a couple months for a job that temporarily there. So/Cal both times. Orange and Riverside areas. It was still OK in the 70s but by 2K it was just nuts. I’m on the border now in AZ and Needles across the river is like crossing the DMZ into Nork.

I wish the few remaining conservatives there would realize that they will never get their state back and head east.

NM is nice overall. Certainly cooler. HaZ some issues but then so do we with being californicated. There are far worse places to live ;)

We have been looking at some properties in the Yuma area, but the wife keeps watching the weather reports from there, and giving me “The Look”, and shaking her head.

My grandparents left me some of those Ranchettes outside of the Deming area, but for the immediate future I’d prefer that electricity actually ran to the property. I’m funny that way.

That is probably where we end up going.

I didn’t go to CA for the first time until 91, but every time I’ve been there, I see underneath the BS, and understand all to well why people wanted to go there. Shame they destroyed the place.

I agree...Sorry if I tread too hard...My sarcastic side does tend to make lots of people wince...My apologies...

Good luck trying to convince a majority of elected Senators to do that...

I know the Texas pair will split on that decision...Because of it came down to it and they did manage to kick McConnell out of the leadership position there, John Cornyn might very well be the next one...And he has developed into a big bag of gas over the last few years...
