Bush, Walker Paul in, Trump out of Voters First forum [Union Leader "mocked" him]

Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and Rand Paul are in. Donald Trump is out.

A total of 14 candidates will participate in the Voters First Republican Presidential Forum on Monday, Aug. 3, at St. Anselm College. The two-hour forum, intended to highlight the importance of the first-in-the-nation primary, along with the Iowa caucuses and South Carolina’s early primary.

“I am in the North Country today,” Bush said Thursday,“meeting with voters about my message of reforming the culture in Washington. I’m looking forward to participating in the August 3rd forum. It’s clear it is a great opportunity to engage with Granite Staters about the important issues confronting the nation.”

The forum came into being after Fox News was heavily criticized for limiting the first sanctioned TV debate to 10 candidates based solely on national polling. Republicans in Iowa,New Hampshire, and South Carolina all wrote letters protesting the polling criteria, but Fox hasn’t budged. However, it has moved up to a 5 p.m. start a second forum for lower-polling candidates. It is unclear how many will attend. The Fox events are in Cleveland, but that state’s governor,John Kasich, may not make the top tier for the primetime debate.

The Voters First Forum is being co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Union Leader, the Charleston, S.C., Post and Courier, and the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gazette. Broadcast co-sponsors are iHeart radio, KCRG-TV, Cedar Rapids;and WLTX-TV in Columbia, S.C. The forum will be broadcast nationally by C-SPAN. New England viewers will be able to watch on NECN. It will be broadcast locally by NH1/WBIN-TV in New Hampshire, as well as by the South Carolina and Iowa stations. It will also air live on NHPR.

Candidate Trump bowed out because, an aide said, he was upset with a Union Leader editorial this week that mocked him for saying that U.S. Sen. John McCain was not a war hero.

But, his supporters will say that they can’t WAIT for Trump and Cruz to combine forces at the debate...

This is CHILDISH on Trump’s part and it shows his true character. He is selfish and it doesn’t seem like he wants to debate.

Someone said that Trump doesn’t want to share the stage...they could be right. I’ll be interested to see how Trump supporters spin this...

Why won’t he face his fellow GOP candidates?

He will in the Fox debate. I doubt debating is a strong skill of Donald Trump. He's likely avoiding it for that reason.

Agree, most won’t want to listen, because there is no one candidate that has the necessary gravitas. Instead the voters will wait for the sound bites on the news. Been voting for over 50 years, I still can’t believe how well the media controls picking our candidates.

But it is strange (to me) that he would back out.

Maybe not...He'll get to see the positions his opponents stake out and may be really well armed in the real debate...

You know, your writings come across as a GOPe cheerleader of sort. Have you, or will you be declaring your preferred GOP candidate slate for 2016 yet?

I see. I criticize Trump so you say I'm a GOPe cheerleader.

I'm supporting Gov Scott Walker.

Shouldn’t out first primary be in a state that at least will probably vote republican in the general election?
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

THANK YOU! Been saying that myself. We let a little, Liberal, Yankee, State play a big role in who our nominee will be, knowing that no Republican is going to carry the freakin’ little crap hole of a state anyhow. But, the RINO Establishment loves it that way.

He also knows the rest of the idiot candidates can't help themselves and will start slamming Trump while he's not there, effectively exposing themselves to the return fire from Trump.

Trump is playing rope-a-dope with the rest of the candidates. Only Cruz has been intelligent enough to take a different route.

Other than trying to be far more important than they are, there is NO reason there should be a candidate forum in NH three days before the first official debate.

Trump knows this is Bush-league stuff... the attention follows him, he need not chase after it. His Twitter feed has many times more eyes on it than this will have.

Bwahahahaha!!

When I found out two things about Scott Walker, he went to my bottom tier of candidates immediately:

1. Family can definitely influence you. His wife and sons are avid supporters of Gay Marriage.

http://www.mediaite.com/online/scott-walkers-wife-our-sons-were-disappointed-by-his-gay-marriage-remarks/

2. He hired a campaign adviser from the slimey, low-life, scumbag Thad Cochran’s campaign to help run his campaign.

Bye, Bye Scottie.

LOL ... Trump has already picked his VP and it isn’t amnesty Walker. He is playing chess and six moves ahead of the rinos playing Go-Fetch.

Yes Trump is leading in NH but some just can’t accept it. The rest of the GOP pack have no more nuanced immigration plans than Donald. He’s the only one getting called down for it.

Walker’s plan: Let them all stay. :=)

The Trumpettes are find of spinning the Kelo support as “a business decision.”

Seems to me, one either believes in right vs wrong.. or not.

The problem is you make yourselves look like fools by trying to make it "the Trump" decision.

The Kelo decision had nothing to do with Donald Trump dingbat.

Yea, yea I know. He built a tower where there used to be a small business that was taken away by ...Trump? NO, he couldn't have taken it even if he wanted to.

I apologize ... I just realize I mis read the article ... But it is strange (to me) that he would back out. Unless he knows the questions and flavor of the "debate" and sees no way he could be a voice for America (in his opinion)

I'm wondering if this is his Perot moment - i.e. when he flinches from scrutiny and crashes his poll numbers.
