Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and Rand Paul are in. Donald Trump is out.
A total of 14 candidates will participate in the Voters First Republican Presidential Forum on Monday, Aug. 3, at St. Anselm College. The two-hour forum, intended to highlight the importance of the first-in-the-nation primary, along with the Iowa caucuses and South Carolinas early primary.
I am in the North Country today, Bush said Thursday, meeting with voters about my message of reforming the culture in Washington. Im looking forward to participating in the August 3rd forum. Its clear it is a great opportunity to engage with Granite Staters about the important issues confronting the nation.
The forum came into being after Fox News was heavily criticized for limiting the first sanctioned TV debate to 10 candidates based solely on national polling. Republicans in Iowa,New Hampshire, and South Carolina all wrote letters protesting the polling criteria, but Fox hasnt budged. However, it has moved up to a 5 p.m. start a second forum for lower-polling candidates. It is unclear how many will attend. The Fox events are in Cleveland, but that states governor,John Kasich, may not make the top tier for the primetime debate.
The Voters First Forum is being co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Union Leader, the Charleston, S.C., Post and Courier, and the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gazette. Broadcast co-sponsors are iHeart radio, KCRG-TV, Cedar Rapids;and WLTX-TV in Columbia, S.C. The forum will be broadcast nationally by C-SPAN. New England viewers will be able to watch on NECN. It will be broadcast locally by NH1/WBIN-TV in New Hampshire, as well as by the South Carolina and Iowa stations. It will also air live on NHPR.
Candidate Trump bowed out because, an aide said, he was upset with a Union Leader editorial this week that mocked him for saying that U.S. Sen. John McCain was not a war hero.

Listening/watching to Donald Trump performing in front of cameras/reporters is like watching a punch drunk fighter.
It’s unsettling.
The Union Leader has nothing to do with unions. It’s a famous old newspaper that’s been on the right forever, and like all conservative organizations and supporters it will be trashed as not conservative because it didn’t say fawning things about the Donald.
But it is strange (to me) that he would back out.
Unless he knows the questions and flavor of the "debate" and sees no way he could be a voice for America (in his opinion)
It's not other's that will destroy his brand, it's himself and there will
be hell to pay. I loath hypocrites.
He's either in it or not.
How he handles things that he doesn't control will tell the voters a lot about him.
I hope it’s a fad, like the “Putin is a great conservative” fad. Trump’s support for the Supreme Courts Kelo v City of New London says a lot about him too. He said he supports it 100%. Well, yeah. It’s great for billionaires who want to take away property rights of ordinary Americans who can then be forced to sell to him and his ilk. Yeah, he’s one of us. He really plays by the rules and supports property rights.
There's no telling what he'll do or say next.
Trump’s campaign style has taken on a Hillary tone.
I guess elite, rich New Yorkers feel that they are above the fray and that the rubes will be there to support them.
Because it really doesn’t matter until Florida, that’s why.
Trump’s refusal sounds rather iffy. The other candidates have said things about him, and he has thrown his own barbs back at them. But, a newspaper mocks him and so, he doesn’t want to do the debate? Maybe he just wants the time to bone up for the big debate on August 6th. I dunno. but this debate sounds boring anyway.
“Why wont he face his fellow GOP candidates?”
I think the question already contains the answer. Trump isn’t accustomed to sharing the stage with other mere mortals and having answer questions about his own past policy positions. The flame-throwing bombast is entertaining, and frankly it has been fun watching him spank the “media,” but the noisy populism only carries you so far. So he feels “disrespected.” What happens in August when he decides he wants to skip the FoxNews debate because someone at FNC deigned to call him out?
C’mon, Trump.. thicken the skin, old boy.
The Trumpettes are find of spinning the Kelo support as “a business decision.”
Seems to me, one either believes in right vs wrong.. or not.
I guess it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks - he just storms off.

I agree. And it’s one thing to be duped when the facts and the information is not available. But, as is the case with Trump, to suspend any willingness to look at his past, look at his vanity, look at his situational conservative nature, is to be a volunteer for being duped. And so many of his supporters get vile and petty just like he does when anyone suggest that he be examined in any way. I’ve been called a liberal and a faggot because I don’t buy his bombast and his commitment to conservatism, which pretty much sums up the level of discourse we’ll be getting if Trump continues to move up in the polls.
They do the same thing with his support and funding for Hillary, his support and funding for Reid and Pelosi, and his previous positions on gun control, abortion, and unions. He may be the first person embraced by conservatives as the great leader who was able to explain his wildly changed political positions after being sixty years old as a mere youthful indiscretion. I too flirted with liberalism, but that was before I turned 22 years old.
Let me know how it goes. I will not be watching it.
They won't last long, the next flavor of the week will rear it's utopian head for them.
