Nevada Sen. Dean Heller knew it wasnt a good idea to ban arms from our military bases and recruiting centers, which is why in June—weeks before the Chattanooga attack—he submitted an amendment to the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act which would give military base commanders the authority to allow service members to carry personal firearms. Unfortunately, his amendment was blocked, by none other than Sen. John McCain.
The Republican senator explained in an interview on the Lars Larson Show that McCain, whos the Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman, didnt want the amendment as part of the [2016 National Defense Authorization] bill and wouldn't accept it."
Five days after the horrible shooting in Tennessee, Heller resubmitted his amendment, which asked that the NDAA conferees include it to help prevent similar situations from happening again.
"I encourage all conferees to look at my amendment, along with the language passed by the House, as a reasonable and effective way to move forward on this issue and give our nation's base commanders the authority they need to create a safer environment for our heroes serving across America, Heller's letter to the Committee read. Never should the men and women serving at home have to be afraid that the base they work, and often live, on is not safe."
Leni, after what he did to veterans and the families of men missing in action, I’m convinced nothing will ever wake people up with regard to this man.
You still to this day have folks defending him here.
“Oh, John is a war hero. Don’t every speak bad of war heroes.”
Why folks who defend him still come to this forum I have no idea. He solidly supports nothing we believe in here.
I’m a conservative and I despise Juan McLame...... Can’t say any more than that. Like minded folks in my local arena are of the same opinion on this POS Polidiot...... Sounds like The land of AZ has a poor representation and proper definition of comservatism...
Of course he did.
Piece of poo.
Pond scum.
Backstabber to honorable Americans by putting illegals first.
Shame on McCain and Mitch McConnel
He needs to retire, that is for sure. I hope the voters in AZ send him to his retirement instead back to the Senate
I will make legal donations to his opponent..... If I lived there I would add time to that money to defeat him.
Stay safe Kaslin...,thanks for all that you do here.
You stay safe also, and you’re very welcome
They have open primaries. The Democrats vote for their nominee.
Then you get a lot of CoC support for McCain cause he’s just their kind of turncoat. And then you get idiots in our own party who actually think McCain is solid.
It’s a mess.
I haven’t seen the Republican party challenge open primaries in one state.
IMO, states have the duty to set up elections, the rules, logistics, dates...
What I don’t think they have a right to do is manipulate the selection process. Parties should be able to select their own candidates, with only their own party members having access to impact the selection.
States should not allow a majority party set up a process where they can manipulate who the other party’s candidate will be. That limits the ability to right an imbalanced state.
I think the Republicans could win if they would challenge on this point. Guess we’ll never know. They like tilting toward the McCains of the party.
This is tampering pure and simple.
McCain has the blood of those dead marines on his hands if indeed he powered the defeat of arming those brave dead troops.
Well... can’t say that you’re wrong. Remember, he is a war hero. Don’t be too hard on him. /s
There was a time when I supported McCain. Maybe he was always a miserable turncoat statist (giving aid and comfort to America's enemies), but only those who knew McCain better than me were aware of it. I am now aware, and despise him.
May he be judged, ever so severely.
Missed that. McCain probably wishes everyone would stop trying to protect him. All this talk is putting him and his activities on the low info vote radar.
Remember , That Traitor Benedict Arnold was a war hero too.....
