Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) interrogated the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director in a contentious exchange during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration policy on Tuesday.
One particularly interesting back-and-forth occurred when ICE Director Sarah Saldana disputed Cruzs assertion that the Obama administration released 104,000 criminal illegal aliens.
When I asked you how many criminals ICE released in 2013, you were off by a factor of three, Cruz said. You said 30,000 the correct answer is 104,000.
Saldana argued she thought she was asked about 2014 and claimed the number was actually 30,558 released illegal aliens that were not prosecuted. The good news is, she continued, at least that went down from 2013.
But youre omitting the 68,000 criminal illegal aliens that ICE did not begin deportation proceedings against at all, Cruz shot back. Youve got to add both of those together its over 100,000.
Saldana then admitted, Yes sir, thats absolutely right.
She added, All done pursuant to this statute that Congress has outlined.
Watch the exchange below:
During the hearing, Cruz also stated that of the 88,000 convictions against illegal immigrants released in 2013, 193 had homicide convictions, 426 had sexual assault convictions and over 16,000 had drunk or drugged driving convictions.
He delivered a passionate statement about the victims who have been murdered by illegal immigrants in the U.S., including Kate Steinle.
There are too many politicians in Washington that talk a good game but dont act. If you want to honor Josh [Wilkerson], if you want to honor Kate Steinle, start enforcing the law and stop releasing murderers, and rapists, and drunk drivers, he said. I dont want to hear from the Obama administration they’re sorry while they continue to do the exact same thing because what we know more people will be murdered, more people will be raped, more people will be killed by drunk drivers because this Administration refuses to enforce the law. That is wrong. No man is above the law, and that includes President Obama.
He concluded with the following statement: ”It is within your power to follow federal law. And this administration refuses to do so, and that is altogether unacceptable.”

Ted Cruz lost my vote when I overheard 2 people talking and one of the people had overheard 2 other people talking and one of them knew a guy that was friends with a guy that new a girl that work in a pizza place and she said Cruz didn’t like black olives.
Anyone doesn’t like black olives has got to be a racist, so I’m finished with Cruz.
“THATS IT! TED CRUZ JUST LOST MY VOTE! AGAIN!!!”
I should have counted the times you have dumped Cruz. How many is it now, 4 or 6 or 10 or 50? :o)
LOL! A couple here are on your hook :-)
No I don’t. People need to stop legitimately posting liberal idiocy on conservative websites to smear conservative candidates. Then sarcasm won’t be needed.
If you have to out your own sarcasm, then it isn’t sarcasm.
Mid 20s I think so far. Roughly. It’s Obamamerica. We all have unlimited votes now. ;)
If only it were not so. The world would be a better place.
Which is a better reason than the libs here actually use ;)
What does Eric Estrada have to do with this?
lol
“I guess electing lesser evil no matter what to lead the House and Senate probably was a bad idea huh...”
Yeah, when the entire leadership are traitors, as SoConPubbie stated, you do indeed have a problem.
AH!!! Bit it it a “Lesser Problem?” See it’s the details that matter.
Because we could have either elected conservatives and had someone fixing the issues or simply allowed two utterly powerless democrats to replace them and had a chance their replacements would have been an improvement...oh and still kept the house and still won the senate doing so.
But no. Gutless people insisted on being led by the nose by online liberals screaming harsh words about evil purists hating America and loving Obama.
No worries! I was going to re-register as a Democrat so I can vote for him TWICE!
” online liberals screaming harsh words about evil purists hating America and loving Obama.”
Yeah....”evil conservative purists” are to blame!
But here is what she said about 2014 elsewhere STATEMENT OF SARAH R. SALDAÑA DIRECTOR U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY REGARDING A HEARING ON OVERSIGHT OF U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT BEFORE THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON THE JUDICIARY
In Fiscal Year (FY)2014, ICE conducted 315,943 removals and returns , 213,719 of which were apprehended while, or shortly after, illegally entering the United States and 102,224 of which were apprehended in the interior of the United States.Eighty-five percent of individuals removed or returned from the interior were previously convicted of a criminal offense, reflecting a significant percentage increase in the removal of individuals with convictions, from 67 percent in FY 2011 and 38 percent in FY 2008. This is no accident. The increasing number of convicted criminals removed from our country is the result of change in ICEs strategic focus, which revised policies help us achieve.
This is all very confusing for me because
These provide raw statistical data because the statistics are broken down between criminal removals and non-criminal removals. Example: Table 41. ALIENS REMOVED BY CRIMINAL STATUS AND REGION AND COUNTRY OF NATIONALITY: FISCAL YEARS 2003 TO 2012

2005 | 246,431 | 92,221 | 154,210 |
2006 | 280,974 | 98,490 | 182,484 |
2007 | 319,382 | 102,394 | 216,988 |
2008 | 359,795 | 105,266 | 254,529 |
2009 | 391,932 | 131,837 | 260,095 |

BECAUSE ONLY A DEMOCRAT WOULD VOTE FOR THAT RACIST!!!
;)
A large number of Free Republic ‘conservatives’ said so. So it must be true.
The media has gone out of its way to avoid mentioning him.
What statutes is she talking about that require them to be released?
That may be true, but it’s nice to think that FReepers will become less gullible, more discerning and slower to jump to conclusions. I’ve been burned by posts of parodies. We should have learned detector skills from Mad Magazine long ago.
She needs to avoid Fort Marcy park, small single engine aircraft and Starbucks.
Thank you. . .I can watch it now.
