Retired neurosurgeon and presidential candidate Ben Carson said Tuesday that he thinks the focus on Donald Trump's recent incendiary comments is "petty" and that the real estate mogul has no reason to drop out of the 2016 race.
"For us to get caught up in a controversy of well, 'What did Donald Trump mean when he said that?' -- It just seems so petty to me," Carson told reporters after speaking to a group of teenage Republicans in Arlington, Va.

Several Republican presidential contenders have said Trump should be disqualified from the presidential race for saying that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is not a war hero. Carson disagreed.
"Im not sure from listening to what he said that he think that Mr. McCain is not a hero," Carson said. "He has repeatedly said yes, he is a hero, so I dont know where that comes from that hes disqualified."

Ben Carson is my choice
If Trump were to win, Ben Carson would have a place in the administration for sure. Surgeon General perhaps. So would Cruz.
Exactly. Good for him.
Obama and his special interest, minority, single women and queer coalition can be easily defeated when white and traditional value Americans actually show up to defend their legacy.
I like Carson.
Not my first choice, but I don’t think I have a problem pulling the lever for him in the General.
He’s not a bad choice at all, but like Cruz just doesn’t have the numbers yet. A good showing during the debates might change that for both of them. They are both top notch as far as I am concerned.
Or Secretary of Health and Human Services....
Actually Carson is also a good choice for many positions in a Trump admin.
Roger, good for him...
Trump is assessing who his friends are now. Yes! Carson as Secretary of HHS would be perfect. Cruz as attorney general. And McCain as broom boy!
Walker came out with the other RINO’s and was critical of Trump...Walker is another white flag Republican.
Scratch Mitt Walker off the list, he’s not ready for prime time.

Sell McCain’s contract to a soccer team in South America. Maybe Dubai...
Why would you say that? There is absolutely no evidence of that. Just because you want it, doesn't make it so. Ben Carson is not the kind of person trump has ever associated with. There is absolutely no reason to think trump would even remember who Carson is.
I do like him as well. The thing I like most about him is his common sense I wish more people had it. I also like the fact that he seems very devoted to his wife.
Trump makes a point of knowing who is with him and who is against him. By publicly sticking up for Trump Carson is stating where he stands. Add to that that Carson is very talented it would not be out of the question that he might be in the administration. Right now this is so far from reality we have to get to the next step first.
All the really “professional” politicians are demanding these apologies and the less professional they are, the closer they are to the American people and the LESS they see any need for any type of apology.
This pattern tells me I don’t just like the GOP much less but I also more generally dislike professional politicians, irrespective of party.
Give me a man who long had a real job and you might make me a voter.
Walker did, apparently, calling on Trump to apologize.
I like Carson & Jindal, both. I don’t think either man is as likely as a snowball in hell to prevail.
My original choice was Scott Walker, but now- not so much.
Ben Carson is a great man!
He is the sort of man that black children can look up to.
I wish a man of his quality had become the first black president instead of the creature that is in office now.
He’s not perfect...but who is?
