Trump attacks McCain: 'I like people who weren't captured'

Donald Trump might finally have crossed the line.

Appearing on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, the real estate mogul took his running feud with Arizona Sen. John McCain to a new level.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The remarks, which came after days of back-and-forth between McCain and Trump, were met with scattered boos.

George Allen would never have lost his Senate race if he hadn’t apologized for the ‘macaca’ comment. The instant he apologized the MSM jackals demanded a thousand more apologies and penned 10,000 macaca stories. Allen’s goose was cooked.

Trump will never fall into that trap. The hyena ‘journalists’ will wear themselves out hysterically yapping for a few days, and then, overwhelmed with frustration, will be forced to move on. Bet on it.

Agreed. Trump has no fear of losing, and that makes him a formidable candidate.

McCain sucked as a pilot, sucked as a Senator and sucked as a Presidential Candidate. Trump is right. McCain milked his poor piloting skills long enough. (McCain should not have called me crazy, so there.)

o said many, many other POWs, as they ‘broke’ and talked and this violated the Code of Conduct. Because so many felt they violated the Code, let themselves and their comrades and country by breaking and talking, a change to the Code was written.

The Code was changed:

“Article V

When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions TO THE UTMOST OF MY ABILITY. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.”

The part that says “to the utmost of my ability” was added to the Code to recgognize POWSs can break and if broken, do not despair as long as you resisted as much as you could.

Bottom Line: McCain felt the guilt many other POWs experienced when they broke.

Some never broke but many did. Daming those that broke, for reaching a point where they could resist no longer (mentally and/or physically), does not recognize human limitations.

I'm well aware of all of the above.

I also admire John McCain for his service to our country and respect him for what he endured as a POW.

Very few fellow POWs have any animosity towards him, and they are really the ones he would have to answer to for his conduct.

However, it's important to note that most people are blackmailed not over criminal acts of wrong doing on their point, but over things that are embarrassing and would hurt their personal reputations and the image they present to the rest of the world as much, if not more, than any damage the information could do to their careers .

Also, generally good people are the most susceptible to blackmail because they have have a functional conscience so they understand privately they have done wrong and fundamentally feel guilty or shamed by their behavior. Because of their strong feelings of shame and guilt of not meeting up to their own personal standards of behavior, they do not want people to associate that kind of behavior with them personally

He’s certainly not afraid of the press, at any rate. That removes their most formidable weapon. The terror with which most Republicans view a bloody, out of control MSM feeding frenzy is what gives the liberal press its power.

When the MSM come up against someone who is not intimidated by them, and who can communicate around them\bypass them if need be, they first go bonkers, and then admit defeat.

Trump was unelectable in any event. But he is good at poking people in the eye, and that needs to be done in the present political environment.

Still, he could have phrased this comment better; or better yet, not said anything at all.

The unfortunate thing about Trump’s comment is that it may give McQueeg a boost in his primary fight.

I think Trump in his round-a-bout way was just saying he doesn’t like John McCain. He used an unfortunate choice of words, but, that is what I got from what he said.

I don’t think it will destroy his candidacy. Trump is very pro military, and McCain is a washed-up has been and has caused great harm to our country. I won’t say anything about his military service, nor his capture. That must have been horrible, but, it’s what he has done after that which counts. And, it isn’t a pretty picture.

I think Trump was just saying he doesn’t like McCain. He could have used a filter for those remarks though. But, next week the media will find something else to hang around his neck. Golly, the same people who give a pass to that POS now in the WH and all the horrible things he says about the American people, jump all over Trump, while defending their butt buddy McCain. Like they care so much about John. Yeah, right. Only when he is trashing other Republicans or should I say, conservatives, do they love him. Having said that, Trump should have worded his comments differently. He is so strong on illegal immigration though, that I’ll just chalk this up to foot-in-the-mouth.

Sorry to say, I agree with you.

I’m a novice at computer stuff and found myself caught up in a thread sidebar. I actually was trying to be helpful and understand what “wideawake” was saying with references.

While I appreciate Mr. McCain’s service (I understand 28 missions flying A-4’s, on the Forrestall, and then on the Oriskany, then shot down and taken prisoner). I disagree with many of his actions in the Senate. May I compare Rep. Duckworth? Lost both legs and most of her arm while flying helo’s. I commend her for her service, yet disagree with many of her positions.

Sen. McCain is the only Hanoi Hilton POW that I can readily bring to mind, why is that? There are 58,195 names on a wall, yet I only know a few. etc., etc. sorry for the rant.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

facts have eluded you. Trump inherited $200 Million and no has $10,000 millions. In case that confuses you, Trump expanded his inheritance 50 times.

It is never good to post lies.

this will destroy the candidacy of Donald Trump.

Maybe in your dreams.

So far between a few freepers like you, the leftist, MSN, Univision, Mexico, the District of Corruption, La Raza, Communist, Columbia, Globalist, leftist academia and drug king pins have all failed.

Every one of you have failed to even scratch Trump. You're like bugs hitting the windshield on Trump's 757...Their ya go now MOUTH!

I think you’ll find you have plenty of company in that position. The MSM thinks some ill chosen words from Trump are of greater importance that the total destruction of the country by our wide open borders and rampant lawlessness. They are going to find that a very hard sale.

But we've got to have a fighter, a brilliant fighter and a clever strategist because we are literally in the fight for our lives--and the lives of our children. We are fighting the forces of decadence and evil ...

Those forces of evil act in devious ways. Charity, for example, is a moral act, not to mention commanded in Christians. NO ONE likes to be an object of charity. Charity requires kindness and mercy, going without for you and yours so someone with less is helped. It's a moral act, voluntary, and righteous. It places obligation on the receiver, who extends charity in repayment.

Government in charity removes morality from the equation. It makes it forced; mercy and kindness are removed. Obligation is removed from the receiver, and entitlement sets in for folks who live in sloth and promiscuity. Welfare makes it happen. Charity made amoral does this kind of evil.

Yet there are Christian "conservative" Republicans who would continue this -- Santorum, for example. He thinks it's government's job to provide charity.

Our brilliant fighters and clever strategists I think are all around us, they're just thinking the old rules aren't obsolete. We must break free of the Republican yoke at the very least, and soon. But this "we" is more a wish than a reality. "We" can't even agree on what constitutes an eligible Republican. If Romney was a Republican, then I'm a vanilla ice cream cone. And Donald Trump? Wha ...?

Cruz is the only guy on the scene who "gets" limited government Christian principle. He's right there in front of "us," bigger than life ... and "we" are screwing around with every loser from Jeb to Trump to establishment-anchored Walker. Every four years "we" rant and rave about "coalescing around one guy soon," and we've got a scenario where ONE guy is not like the others -- and still, people are "excited" about the dog and pony primary circus.

I'm just cynical.

The press lies OUTRIGHT, and you claim this will kill Trump?

Maybe you are right, but for the wrong reason. Outright lies are what the media pushes these days.

That you are supporting the press’ assault on Trump means you are tacitly supporting the act of propaganda and lies, which makes me wonder a little about you.

Ok, that was a dumbass thing to say.

It's a lie. The press reported the exact opposite of what he said.
