Trump attacks McCain: 'I like people who weren't captured'

Donald Trump might finally have crossed the line.

Appearing on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, the real estate mogul took his running feud with Arizona Sen. John McCain to a new level.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The remarks, which came after days of back-and-forth between McCain and Trump, were met with scattered boos.

Listening to Trump’s actual statement, it’s blunt and totally true, but nowhere near as bad as some want it to be.

The person off camera interjects that: “He’s (McCain) a war hero”.

Trump says: “He’s a war hero. He’s a war hero because he got captured. I like people who didn’t get captured...

McCain’s saying Trump “Fired up the crazies” is far more insulting to the thousands who chose to attend Trump’s Phoenix rally.

Trump and Jeb Bush, both of whom never served in the military, have made a couple of boners in the past 24 hours: First Bush with his comment that he supports a transgendered military, and now Trump with this shot-from-the-hip assertion.

Bud Day, who I believe was the senior POW officer in NV, had said that McCain’s conduct was okay, and that’s good enough for me.

Unfortunately, McCain, IMHO, has since made himself a Traitor by getting into bed with top enemy islamist commanders in the ME.

I’ve liked that Trump has been a flame thrower to the GOPe, and I would like that to continue for the time being. But his engine has started to sputter to the point that he should take care that he doesn’t go into a flat-out spin.

He should never apologize to Mcstain. A domestic enemy of the Constitution.

Mcstain is mentally ill and should be institutionalized.

The only thing he’s good at is turning his father’s billions into his own millions (and then lying about his lack of success).

And, scud runner Crash McCain got better at dodging bullets, too.

As mid-air collisions go, that Keating Five thing was what the media usually calls a "near miss".

Close enough. An inch is as good as a mile, they say and, when measured by the ruler "they" use these days, it came with a guaranteed squeaker soft landing on a long, smooth and threat-free career.

None the less, in this venue, Trump went a bit too far, got wild and hit below the belt.

Give Crash a standing eight and take a point away from Trump and let the round continue.

Kept the commies on their side of the fence but didn't exactly dodge bullets. . .as implied by the poster as a qualifier, one has to put their live on the line, and back in Trumps younger days, the muslimes were not the threat they are today, and today, everyone, military and CIVILIAN are putting their life on the line for just being alive, and Trump is putting himself at risk, putting his life on the line for attacking illegal aliens and muslime terrorists.

Your statement also applies to over 90% of all those who served as they never saw combat, never “put their life on the line” nor hear a shot fired in anger, and many of those never left the states.

One more time, I don't give a damn how you serve, if you were drafted, work at a missile site in North Dakota, serve at a military recruitment office in some strip mall in Chattanooga.

Bottom line if you join the military you can find yourself in harms way or in the middle of a war in no time at all.

Look how many ended up in places like Iraq when they actually joined for the benefits. S**t happens.

If ya join, you're taking a risk and should be prepared to do so.

I am supporting Trump but he needs to think more now that all the spotlights are on him. Saying McCain is no hero, and because .... because he was captured, please.

I think a personal apology to McCain is in order.
