In her highly anticipated speech on the economy Monday, Hillary Clinton was heavy on rhetoric and short on specifics, promising to reveal her actual policy proposals in the weeks ahead.
But this week, she also dropped a not-so-subtle hint about a big one.
In a questionnaire for the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which endorsed her this week, Clinton noted that the so-called “Cadillac tax” levied under Obamacare is one area she is “examining.”
The Cadillac Tax is a surcharge on expensive health care plans. It’s a crucial provision of Obamacare, bringing in much-needed revenue and trying to curb the incentive for employers to offer outlandish insurance plans to their workers. But it doesn’t kick in until 2018, so it’s going to be the next president’s problem.
If Clinton opposes it, she’ll be running against nearly every U.S. health policy expert and the White House. They all see it as clunky but necessary to reduce health care costs.
But politically, fighting the Cadillac tax is a winner. Republicans hate it because it increases revenue and is simply part of Obamacare. And unions object to it because they often negotiate generous health plans in lieu of higher take-home pay. It’s no wonder that — as POLITICO’s Brian Faler reported in a deep look at the topic in April — the Cadillac tax is shaping up to be the next big Obamacare fight.
Clinton didn’t say exactly what she’d do, but in her response to the AFT questionnaire, she began to stake out a position. “As currently structured,” Clinton wrote, “I worry that it may create an incentive to substantially lower the value of the benefits package and shift more and more costs to consumers.”

6 months after her election she will hold a press conference saying that she worked night and day since her election and cannot find anyway to cut that tax. Then she will announce that she will instruct the IRS to make it retroactive to 2013.
“Her speech”...That’s all she does, is give speeches. Meanwhile people like Cruz and Trump have given about 9 billion interviews since they announced.

What in the world would make what was previously seen simply as complete coverage to be now viewed as 'outlandish?'. And even if such a thing existed, why would it be in the public interest to stop it?
If you are trying to curb something, you can't also be trying to get 'much-needed' revenue. If you are successful at the first, you must fail at the later.
I can’t possibly see how this witch can survive the next 15 months campaigning no matter how much the wackos support her. Eventually she is going to have to submit to a hard question interview and then do debates. Eventually she will be exposed, and calling her crimes all a “right wing conspiracy” just ain’t going to fly for those entire 15 months. If that passes muster with the voters then this country is already finished.
Notice how easily this rolls off the reporter's pen. The idea that some worker benefits are "outlandish" and need to be curbed so that the government regulates exactly what everyone gets. No one gets too little and, God Forbid, no one gets too much. A generous benefit plan is "outlandish" and needs to be curbed. Unless, of course, you're Hillary seeking support of the unions who want outlandish benefit plans and then its perfectly OK. Look for Hillary's fix to be to simply exempt her union supporters or any company that donates enough to her.

Hillary will have zero coattails in the election (or are those pantsuit tails). So House and Senate still likely Republican. She won’t be able to do diddly/squat.

Every US health policy expert means only the ones that the writer agrees with. The ones that disagree with the writer, doesnt exist to him.
