A lawsuit brought by environmentalists and federal regulators has forced a major utility to phase out coal use at six power plants in Iowa. Activists claim these retirements bring the total number of U.S. coal plants shut down to 200 or 40 percent of the U.S. coal plant fleet.
On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency and Justice Department of Justice announced an Iowa subsidiary of Alliant Energy agreed to pay $7.1 million in civil penalties to environmental projects for violating the Clean Air Act. The settlement also requires the company to stop burning coal or shut down six power plants in Iowa and pay $620 million to upgrade the plants.

And when peoples heating and electric bills rise, what will be the explanation for why?
It’s tyranny.
Crony capitalism turns totalitarian. The Obama legacy.
No thinking person is against clean air.
But to demonize coal to the point of shutting down plants and the residual effects of job losses and the ripple effect throughout the economy (at least local economy) is just wrong.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list

>>And when peoples heating and electric bills rise, what will be the explanation for why?
I work for a utility company, so I know the answer to this one: they’ll blame it on the greedy power company if they are Democrats and blame it on the greedy utility workers if they are Republicans.
DEFUND
DEFUND
DEFUND!
” what will be the explanation for why?”
Republicans. George Bush. The Confederate flag. White people. Racism. (Did I miss anything?)
This won’t stop until the people whose lives are being ruined start going to Washington and aggressively confront the despots including the one in the White House.
Worst. President. Ever.
And they gloat even more when old folks who can’t afford the higher electricity rates die this and continuing winters.
