Hmmmm. Not sure if "revolt" is the right term here since the law gives business owners the option to prohibit. Unlike anti-smoking laws which force business owners to ban smoking in their establishment by govt fiat. You say apples, I say oranges.

The practice of not carrying guns into restaurants and bars is not new to Texas. I’ve spent a lot of time in Texas over the years. I don’t frequent icehouses and bars anymore, but it used to be fairly common to see Gun Checks at the front door.

Whataburger can choose not to let armed citizens on their property.
I can choose not to go to Whataburger.
Free country - for now...

There was a long thread about this yesterday. When I’m in Texas, Whataburger is one of my favorite places. And I don’t open-carry, but nevertheless I’d probably patronize In-n-Out burger or Jack in the Box next time I’m down there.

And I have the right to not spend my dollars in Whataburger. Man, there are a lot of burger joints in Texas.

I think it is fine for them to do whatever they want. Maybe they don’t want 20 people with AKs and AR-15s showing up at one of their restaurants. After some of the stunts the Texas open carry folks pulled in the past couple of years, I can’t say that I blame them.

Thanks. I did a search and it didn’t pop up today. Maybe the header was different enough to not ping as ‘already posted’.

Thus is the problem. Many people that are pro-gun remind me of people who say that they are anti-abortion, but when you ask them and pin them down they start coming up with all kinds of exceptions and you find out they aren’t so anti-abortion as they claim.
I do agree that that as a private business they have the right to refuse serve to anyone especial anyone that refuses to follow posted conduct request.

They are idiots. Their PR team needs to be fired.
No matter what their beliefs on this matter, ANTI-GUN activism by retailers never ends good.
There is ALWAYS a backlash. Every single time.
