Trump is no chump, thats for sure.
Since his attention-grabbing presidential announcement last month, Donald Trump is surging in the polls, dominating media coverage and drawing huge crowds when he speaks.
Not only did he trump all 15 GOP presidential contenders this week in the latest Economist/YouGov poll, just yesterday his rally in Phoenix was in such demand, the location had to be moved from a hotel to a much larger convention center to accommodate the thousands of people who wanted to listen to the Donald speak. The outspoken GOP front-runner is unscripted, honest and sincere. And voters find that straight talk refreshing in our politically correct culture, where one bad word, joke or comment can get you fired, attacked or labeled a racist.
So yes, voters on both sides of the aisle are listening to what the Donald has to say regardless if they agree with his views or not. Trump is exercising his constitutionally protected right to free speech and he isnt letting fear of public backlash or fear of losing business partnerships muzzle him.
Hes showing a spine.
Thats something that will be needed in any commander in chief who goes up against Vladimir Putin, Iran, ISIS and other dangerous enemies who wish Death to America. Heres an important consideration: If a presidential candidate is afraid to speak his mind in his own country will he also be afraid to stand up to foreign enemies?
What a contrast to Hillary Clinton, who spends most of her campaign either hobnobbing with one-percenters at expensive private fundraisers at millionaires homes or roping off media and refusing to answer their questions. At this point in Clintons campaign, the average voter doesnt know what she actually stands for as shes refused to take any real questions from voters or media that arent staged or pre-screened by handlers.
Whether you like Donald Trump or not, whats impressive is that hes displaying leadership right now by shaping the topics that will dominate the 2016 presidential race immigration, jobs and national security. Trump is setting the political agenda, not his opponents on the GOP ticket, nor the Democratic machine.
In the 2016 election, we could end up having the ultimate capitalist, Donald Trump, going up against the ultimate socialist, Bernie Sanders.
Now that would be a debate worth watching.
Where oh where is Jebbie Bush????? Out quietly raising lots of money from Republican elites who despise all Donald Trump stands for. Jebbie and his flunkies are playing off the Donald, using Trump to scare his donors into giving even more....or else they will get Donald Trump at the head of the Republican ticket.
And the last thing these Republican elites want is Trump pissing on all their open borders scheming for cheap labor and their sellout “free trade” deals.
Jeb looks a bit cross eyed there while Pedro looks like your average rural Mexican
They have successfully made this a Chump-Jeb race so far
which is the point and the plan
“trashing Jeb Bush”... I don’t see that at all.
“Your trolling remains illogical.”
We ought to place a bet with GeronL on the truth of his statements!
Looser gets a five course dinner of crow!
Goldwater in '63 and Reagan in '79.
That air of inevitability surrounded both.
Imagine if all 16 Republicans running were speaking like Trump. Now that would be good news for conservatives and the country.
My question is, why aren’t the other 15 saying what needs to said and laying out the policies Trump is? They are conservatives aren’t they? [ trick question :) ]
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
I understand your trepidation and respect your opinion. I believe all Trump supporters here in FR -- like myself -- should respect the long-term Freepers who are warning us that Trump is a false hope.
The way I see it is that Trump is a crap-shoot, but in a game where we do have a chance of winning.
What's the alternative? Without Trump I believe the GOPe along with dem cross-overs would guarantee a Jeb victory in the R primary which guarantees a dem victory in the general, even if they ran Alzheimer Plugs Biden.
So yes, Trump is a risk. But he seems to me to be a good risk.
But again, I respect your opinion and will continue to read and think about your warnings as events unfold.
Bingo...illogical troll alert.
If Trump was agreeing with Jeb, he would be against Jeb... GeronL is one bizarre stooge.
Trump is mouthing words like an actor and getting attention to crowd out the field for Jeb.
I don’t think Chump believes a word of it
Trump is not a conservative at all
“Winning” with a leftist is not winning
R is not better than D without any principles being included
Assuming you are right, that Trump is a “leftist”, do you know of any other leftist taking his stand on immigration?
How is he the only leftist out there with that position?
I guess you’re going to say it’s a fake position, that he doesn’t really hold it.
If so, then you are speculating... just like I am.
WHAT???? Trump has reduced the Jebster to unelectable joke.
“Of course Trump hates the GOP since he is a liberal Democrat”
Just can it with your anti-Trump baloney. It’s so tiresome and repetitive and without worth. Find a new topic and give us all a break.
Was in Boston last week and visited Sam Adams grave by the way.
Magnifico !

Since you can't win points by slamming him on the issues, you're reduced to just slamming the keyboard like that famous chimp writing a novel.
Slam, spam, sham....the sum total of your contributions to reasoned discourse concerning Trump.

I think the REAL TRICK here is to have Trump take all the Oxygen out of the Republican race - just as HOWARD BAKER is considering a run.
Is there ANYONE that can excite the base more than HOWARD BAKER? I think not.
So that’s the plan - get Trump to prevent a super-exciting Republican from getting noticed just as he enters the race. Victory would have been ASSURED if only HOWARD BAKER was able to get into the race.
(I think you get my point...it’s hard to come up with a way that Trump is sabotaging the Republican Party, at least up till now)
