During a July 9 discussion on a spending bill, Democrat members of the Houseled by House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)began pushing a vote to ban all "Confederate symbols from the Capitol." This was a continuation of a push that began Tuesday, wherein Democrats sought to ban Confederate flags from all federal cemeteries.
On Thursday, Pelosi supported such bans as necessary, saying it "is about our morals."
According to Politico, on Tuesday, Democrats not only pushed to ban the flag from federal cemeteries, but also to stop the U.S. Park Service from doing business with enterprises that sell the flags. Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA)said, This House now has an opportunity to add its voice to end the promotion of the cruel, racist legacy of the Confederacy.

Pelosi is to morals what east is to west.
We should begin demanding that the Democrat party change its name because it is historically associated with slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, the KKK, and the abuse of civil rights.
Do NOT share her morals!
This from the Lady Macbeth of Abortion.
This will be the start of the Gov. banning everything they feel like banning for political advantage of course.
This whole thing is stupid and scary at the same time.
Lurkinanloomin,
I think you bumped the chip on someone's shoulder.
Is it possible for this alcoholic whore to have an easier job? She jets around the world at taxpayer expense, drinking booze paid for by taxpayers, and all she has to do is latch onto some issue that is today’s hot button? American politics, huh?
And what would she know about that?
Ordered mine today.
We should ensure that these flags are now seen more than ever before.
Fundamentally we believe in the rule of law. When the court rules against us we fundamentally believe in complying. And we mistakenly believe that our elected representatives are going to represent us and "fix" the problem. They're not, and enough people outside of us freepers are beginning to recognize that. Oklahoma's governor told the state court to take a hike last week. That is an appropriate response to tyranny. Eventually the left will push enough people into a corner they don't want to be in, and then things will change.
And let's not forget the Folson Street blowout (ew, should have used a different description) in her 'moral' city every year.
Tomorrow democrats will have 'sanctuary' cities for gang bangers, tax cheats and rapists...
Democrats think they're above the law... They've got the FBI and IRS targeting American citizens who to dare to disagree with corrupt liberal elites... How soon until the FBI functions as a secret police? Dems want a police State with thugs dragging political opponents out of their homes at midnight? Totalitarians... thugs... liars... democrats.
k Stand up to Liberal Elite thugs and they turn your name over to the FBI... Judicial Watch...
Have not seen such an article, but it has been posted as "fact" now several times on these threads.
The real facts are somewhat different.
After Wanderer other slave ships were captured on the high seas, and one, Clotilde (Captain: William Foster, owner: Mobile AL ship-builder Timothy Meaher), even reported as delivering perhaps 160 slaves to Mobile Bay, Alabama, in 1860, though not confirmed.
These illustrate: demand for slaves, and ownership of slave-ships, increasingly came from Southern slave-holders, that the US Federal Government first outlawed such transport, then captured and prosecuted violators when possible.
So the flags of those ships are irrelevant, since they were all outlaws.
And, in any event these flags would not have resembled the Confederate battle flag -- which didn't come into existence until 1861 (or 2).
I.e., it never flew over any slave ship.
>>>Theres an article floating around about the Civil war and the flag we see today, was flown from slave ships<<<
Unless the Dutch, English and Portuguese were Johnny Rebs, that would be impossible.
Agreed, no dispute about that.
The second Confederate Navy jack & ensign (1863 - 65) were almost indistinguishable from the Army's battle flag.
They flew on Confederate Navy ships, but were never used in the slave-trade.
Indeed, perhaps counter-intuitively, the Confederate Constitution also outlawed importing slaves from overseas.
For an example of an actual slave-ship, the Nightingale, when captured off Africa with 961 slaves in April 1861, was then Brazilian owned and had been transporting slaves to Cuba for several years.
And this list of slave-ships seized by Union warships does not suggest any were Confederate ships.
But my point in all this is: the pro-Confederate claim that some slave ships flew the US flag cannot be accurate after 1807, if then, because such ships were outlaws, and when caught were seized, their owners prosecuted.
Here is the second Confederate Naval Jack:
And here, from 1848, USS Jamestown of the Africa Squadron, captured two slave-ships:
