The Oklahoma Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision, has ordered a monument of the Ten Commandments removed from the state Capitol.
Calling the Commandments religious in nature and an integral part of the Jewish and Christian faiths, ... monument must go.
Gov. Mary Fallin has refused. And Oklahoma lawmakers instead have filed legislation to let voters cut out of their constitution the specific article the justices invoked. Some legislators want the justices impeached.
Fallins action seems a harbinger of what is to come in America an era of civil disobedience like the 1960s, where court orders are defied and laws ignored in the name of conscience and a higher law.
Only this time, the rebellion is likely to arise from the right.
SNIP
U.S. Supreme Court decisions have been defied and those who defied them lionized by modernity. Thomas Jefferson freed all imprisoned under the sedition act, including those convicted in court trials presided over by Supreme Court justices. Jefferson then declared the law dead.

If a family disagreed as broadly as we Americans do on issues so fundamental as right and wrong, good and evil, the family would fall apart, the couple would divorce, and the children would go their separate ways.
Something like that is happening in the country.
A secession of the heart has already taken place in America, and a secession, not of states, but of people from one another, caused by divisions on social, moral, cultural and political views and values, is taking place.
America is disuniting, Arthur Schlesinger Jr. wrote 25 years ago.
And for those who, when young, rejected the views, values and laws of Eisenhowers America, what makes them think that dissenting Americans in this post-Christian and anti-Christian era will accept their laws, beliefs, values?
Why should they?

Couldn't agree more; but it seems people like you and I need to educate people the true history of that flag - IT WAS FLOWN BY DEMORATS, the Party that has NEVER apologized for slavery!
Just yesterday, I was talking to a guy at work who is well educated by the government school system and he thought the flag was a Republican flag.
***SIGH***
And one thing more. While I respect LEOs and the job they do generally, they need to be aware that when, in the coming days, they are asked to function as the blunt force behind tyrannical and illegal acts of government, they will be held accountable and will be putting themselves at risk.
Long Yankee screed coming, sorry in advance.
As far as a lot of these people are concerned, the democrats were the good guys back then, you see they think the parties magically switched sides at some fairly recent date. And the civil war wasn’t about the slave masters who controlled the Southern states desperately trying to hold on to their power and use the government to promote their personal economic interest, it was about “freedom” from “that oppressive Yankee tyrant Lincoln”.
Because you see their ancestors were Confederate soldiers and their precious ancestors just had to have been fighting on the side of the angels, so therefore the battle flag of a government in violent rebellion against the lawfully elected United States government is a good thing. End of story, their great great great great great grandpappy fought under that flag so that flag is good.
The CSA was formed after they couldn’t handle losing an election, their army of conscripts who were forced to join (guess White people could be slaves too) fought for the interests of a few rich a-holes who felt the federal government should be used to promote their right to own people they kidnapped, not preserve it mind you, promote it, expand it, because the North was willing to take a federal abolition of slavery OFF THE TABLE permanently via a constitutional amendment, which they felt was unnecessary anyway because they believed it was a state matter. But that wasn’t good enough, see the Northern states didn’t like having to round up escaped kidnap victims and send them back South, see the cherished “state’s rights” didn’t matter to the Southern leaders when it was the rights of free Northern states.
Northerners didn’t want slavery expanded into the new western states so the slave masters could keep their voting share in the Senate. When the Supreme Court, in it’s worst decision in the first century of it’s existence, said that Congress had no power to prohibit slavery in any territory, the masters cheered. The slave masters wanted the federal government to do their bidding. A new President and Congress less willing to do their bidding=”oppression”.
So that flag is a good thing, a symbol of freedom from an oppressive government. If they want to believe that fantasy, FINE by me, like I said they can fly the flag on their own property, they can post pictures of it online, they can put bumper stickers on their vehicles, they can wear t-shirts, they can watch unedited “Dukes of Hazard” dvds.
What they can’t do is tell the rest of us that we aren’t allowed not to like that flag and to insist it doesn’t belong on public property, that we aren’t allowed to believe that Lincoln was a good guy, that we aren’t allowed to override their personal wishes as to whether that flag should fly on government property if there are more of us than their are of them. What they can’t do is tell Blacks they have no right to detest that flag of the army that fought for the rich jerks who used to own their ancestors.
Now that the duly elected GOP state Government of South Carolina has decided to take the flag down, these people that claim to hold the rights of state governments supreme should accept that decision. They are free to fly it front of their houses. And they are free to not vote for someone who voted to take it down. If they can elect a pro-flag legislature they can put it back up, welcome to democracy. Until then they should accept they are in the minority.
As for the libs who think the Republicans are the Confederates, they share the ignorant view that the parties switched sides.
When I was kid in the 90’s, my class went to the Chicago Historical society, the curator said “Lincoln would be a democrat today, the democrats back then would be Republicans”. This was someone who was paid to be a historian!
They fail to see that owning people is completely consistent with the ideology of the democratic party.
and what is your vision for the Lincolnesque Republican secession movement that runs from Montana to Georgia?
No longer a Confederate Southern idea. There is a wider audience ...
I don’t want to imagine how bad it would have to get for anyone SERIOUS (ie not people on the Internet talkin’ bout it after work as a way to blow off steam) to even seriously contemplate trying to take a state out of the union, which in my view is unconstitutional but the Constitution is toilet paper now so who cares. Times would have to be pretty desperate I would think. We may reach that point, God forbid. I guess I’ll have to move from Chicago to America if that happens. The new America would be like Israel with Muslims on their border, looking to conquer them or at least to illegally immigrate.
Here’s a Confederate flag with 50 stars, does that float your boat?

I actually kinda like it, how it looks I mean, not what it represented. Vexiology is an interest of mine. I do get why it’s a symbol of defiance for some but it’s still the flag of the slave masters. I would chuse (that’s how they spell “choose” in the Constitution) a different flag of defiance that’s free from that crappy association. Owning human beings really isn’t cool and we just can’t be associated with that. That’s like right after murder in terms of degree of not being cool.
I do have a vision of a military or paramilitary coup to restore order and crush socialism nationwide, which is also, strictly speaking, unconstitutional. Though I think I were a judge I could creatively interpret a clause to allow it. The Second Amendment implies that it’s kosher. ;d
I have this crazy vision of an electorate that’s reduced from every adult including ‘tards who only know of Lincoln as a car, to people who aren’t on the dole that can pass basic literacy, economic literacy, history, science, and civics tests. (But not grammar, especially where to put commas, or spelling) You see because being a right-wing nutjob I have the crazy notion that morons shouldn’t be allowed to have an equal say just because they technically qualify as adult citizens. I’m psycho, right?
BINGO!!!
,
Unhinged Nancy Pelosi Said To Promise, We Will Hang Them By That (Confederate) Flag!
Really? You could be mentally ill.
1. fed govt is about bankrupt
2. the result would expected to be fascism
3. the rebellion against the court will have to be won
4. if it isn’t, i’d expect the country to end up broken up into regional governments.
5. secession in the western Canadian provinces was serious. That would have given the western US states a place to go.
In my little scenario there the new America = decent states that leave the Union
Muslims=People in the lib states
Duh
Aside from Alberta (which I would compare to Montana) the Western Canadian provinces are not conservative by American standards. A union with British Columbia and Saskatchewan makes less sense than a union with Washington State and Oregon.
“what good would Titos old rifles do when the Soviet Union rolled into his country”
Yugo reworked Mausers are quality rifles. 24/47s and M48s are reasonably priced, still
And they think they're pretty clever. They don't think that the knife can cut both ways. They are true idiots.
You are so correct...
