Todd Grills Cruz on Immigration, Never Gets an Answer
Mediaite ^ | July 5, 2015 | Evan McMurry

Posted on 07/05/2015 10:44:30 AM PDT by conservative98

Meet the Press host Chuck Todd spent several minutes Sunday morning trying to extract an answer from Senator and 2016 candidate Ted Cruz (R-TX) about what the Donald Trump-saluter proposed doing with the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country, and appeared very unhappy when he didn’t get one.

“Boo-hoo. Todd never gets an answer to his ‘gotcha’ question.”
______________________________________________________________________________

Remember, Rush “affectionately” refers to him as F. Chuck Todd, like Chuck U. Schumer.

Boo-hoo. Todd never gets an answer to his ‘gotcha’ question.

I'm not saying Cruz doesn't have an answer, but illegal immigration is not a gotcha question. Every candidate better be prepared to answer the question.

Why won't Cruz just SAY IT?

He supports granting them legal status, just not citizenship.

He supports letting them all stay.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/us/cruz-tries-to-claim-the-middle-ground-on-immigration.html?_r=1&

I would have a LOT more respect for him if he's just come clean.

His answer was that FIRST we need to secure the border - and he will not discuss or consider what needs to be done about illegals living here until AFTER the border is secured.

In other words (how I would put it) Democrats need to unconditionally surrender on border security. They need to give Americans border security because that is the right thing to do, period. They cannot hold border security hostage by saying that they will agree to this IF the like they GOP answer on illegals living here, or IF border security is tied to some other commitments. I’m not playing that game. Give us border security, and then we will talk.

"Chuck Todd wasn’t interested in Cruz’s positions on immigration, all he wanted to do was go straight to the future issue, the most divisive portion, to keep from talking about today’s stage of the immigration problem, which is, first stop the flow".

I agree 100%. Todd would have used the time better by asking Cruz just HOW he would secure the border and whether he would support mandatory E-Verify with criminal penalties.

Ted Cruz has never advocated for a Wall as far as I know.

What's his plan?

“Your Cruz birtherism is right there in your posting history.
Own it.”

At your service, again.

I never said Cruz was not a citizen; the Constitution draws a distinction between being a citizen and natural born citizen. The Constitution was adopted in 1789. The ones who wrote the Constitution drew up the Naturalization Act of 1790, which defines what a NATURAL BORN citizen is, natural born citizen being a requirement for the presidency of the United States.

from Wikipedia:

The Act also establishes the United States citizenship of certain children of citizens, born abroad, without the need for naturalization: “the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens: provided, That the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in
the United States”.

***********

Accordingly, a Natural born citizen is: children born of citizens of the United States (no matter where born) which is what many of us were taught in high school, when American history was taught. American history is no longer taught; Common Core decrees it to be named United States history, so the identity “American” can be phased out over the next 10 - 12 years.

When I say something about Cruz, you seem to want to, without refuting what I say, throw this up to me, as if I would be embarrassed to “own” up to it. Insulting, “Look everyone, he is one of those “birthers”. When I first started reading this site, EVERYONE was a “birther”. Things do change fast. This is my officially owning up to it, again. And the next time you mention it, I will do so again. Wouldn’t you own up that I can, in fact, have a basis for what I say?

Cruz supports boots on the ground and a wall, and to triple the Border Patrol.

By the way, libertarians want to fire the Border Patrol and INS, and open the borders.

In this interview he restates his focus on 100% control of the border.

I would think that you would have watched the video.

That is code for AMNESTY. (As I have stated before)

Then you are wrong as you have been before.

Cruz says he is “unequivocally opposed to amnesty” (his exact words) at the 4:27 mark in this video dated May 30, 2015.

CATO Institute: Yes, Ted Cruz Can be President
CATO Institute ^ | Aug 26, 2013 | By Ilya Shapiro, Senior Fellow In Constitutional Studies, Cato

“As I’ve stated elsewhere on this forum many times, I have infinitely more confidence in Mark Levin and the CATO Institute than I do in legions of internet sea lawyers and bloggers.
If Ted Cruz decides to run for the Presidency and he appears to be the strongest conservative running, I will support him to the hilt. He’s one of the few conservatives in the Senate who actually has the balls to stand up for conservatism and against Obama and the GOP-e RINOs. This is a battle for the survival of America as a free nation. If we allow the democrats and the GOP-e statists to select our next opposition candidate for us, ie, Chris Christie or Jeb Bush, this nation is kaput.

We stand united or we fall. We cannot afford to destroy our best candidates or to split our conservative vote to the point that the likes of Christy or Bush gets the nod and someone like Hillary waltzes into the White House.

Supporting the “electable” Dole, McCain and Romney gave us Clinton and Obama. Supporting the crazy conservative gave us President Reagan.

Why did he not tell Todd that today? It is easy, really, and nationwide. Remove all doubt, forever.

Ask him. But he is on record as saying he “unequivocally opposes amnesty”. You know that now. So every time you say differently in the future you will be lying.

All Cruz has to say is that they all didn’t get here in one day and it will take more than one day to help them return to their motherland where they can work to make those countries better places for their beautiful cultures.

or he could just say GET THE FKOUT

But then of course, if you don’t have control over your borders they will just come back in again.

Still just answer the question with a plain YES THE MUST GO BACK TO THEIR MOTHERLAND......HOW? oh one million a year, using hi tech IRS/NSA/ methods of identifying....anyone committing a crime would be jailed indefinitely till border control was attained....(I BET THAT WOULD SPEED UP THE BUILDING OF THE FENCE)

I like Mark Levin, I listen to him almost daily, but for all his reverence for the Constitution, he is embarrassed that the Founding Fathers were the original “birthers” and will not talk about it at all. He will get completely nasty in a nanosecond. I am not familiar with CATO except for what Wikipedia says about it. And, I don’t think it is proper to use an almost 2 year old Jim Robinson post in an attempt to do what you can’t do — explain away a very, extremely clear definition written by our Founding Fathers, a definition I and many others were taught in high school, and tested on. Are you, in any way, trying to intimidate me? You can’t. But it does seem to be cowardly and small minded.

I’ve heard Cruz say repeatedly, No Amnesty for illegals, EVER. I don’t know how many times he has to say it, but those who are paying attention know this.
