A NASCAR spokesperson said the request would pertain to "overt displays" of the Confederate flag. If you're a fan wanting to bring in a 15-foot Confederate flag to fly on track property while at a race or are planning to use the symbol as a way to make a boisterous statement, you're likely going to be asked to not do so and possibly escorted out of the track premises.

Boycott NASCAR!
The pace car will be a pony boy driven by Elton John.
Its headed for extinction. All auto racing is really.
And I say that being the former ED at a motorsports publication - www.Off-Rod.com for those that don’t know.
The young men today do not know how to change a tire. In the past, boys were largely mechanically inclined. It was a guy thing with shop classes and go karts and dirt bikes and a million other things.
Today there are no shop classes, dirt bikes are banned from many areas and hotrodding is so legislated that its a rich man’s pastime.
There are too many other options young men CAN participate in far cheaper and with less hassle. And it saddens me.
You want to see the ultimate concentration of racists visit any large US city.
Thanks for the new tagline!
"Daytona International Speedway, site of Sunday's race, is hosting a Confederate flag exchange program for any fan who wants to turn in his or her Confederate flag for an American flag."
That’s how I see it too.
What? One can’t trade for a rainbow fag. Oops rainbow flag.
The biggest nascar fan in the house says "They would not stop you."
Can we exchange our Resident and his Rainbow House for an American President too?
And because they are a bunch of spineless, pandering wussies.
And THAT is what America needs more of across the board.
” It was a guy thing with shop classes and go karts and dirt bikes and a million other things.”
Yep. I grew up with this(early to mid 60’s)
I raced go carts at the Michiana Speedway complex. (We used West Bend & McCulloch 2 stroke engines back then). I had a REAL (Wren)mini- mini bike with a WB motor on it. Today, CPS would have removed me from my parents : )
Do if you wear a shirt with the flag on are they going to ask me to leave, and if so, on what grounds?
Daytona has said it will not have a ban.
NASCAR fans, being who they are, will almost certainly look upon this as a challenge, and untold numbers will sneak the banner in anyway, so when the the events get underway, the banners will sprout like dandelions.
Stock car racing was BUILT on the rebellious sons of the South running illegal moonshine over the back roads and byways in tricked-out and souped-up Fords and Mercurys. The 1940 Ford coupe was a particular favorite, as was the 1949 Mercury. The Confederate North Virginia battle standard was just part of the standard equipment.
Good ol’ boys have been around a long time.
I hope this backfires.
Great idea NASCAR...alienate and piss off over half of your fans (I don’t know what %, but NASCAR is popular up here in Michigan too).
I'll play no part in it.
My DAUGHTER installed a digital ignition on one of the ORC project trucks when she was 10ish for an article we did in like 99 or so.
Find me, out of 100 random ADULT MEN today under about 40, one that could do that.
We are all but gone Steve.
