The Transportation Security Administration is getting an earful from angry Americans after the agency’s spokeswoman tweeted a photo of the contents of a traveler’s suitcase – $75,000 in cash – for all the world to see on Tuesday.

“If you had $75,000, is this how you’d transport it? Just asking! TSA @ RIC spotted this traveler’s preferred method,” tweeted Lisa Farbstein, TSA spokeswoman at headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

The public reaction was fierce and included some of the following comments:

So … taxpayers are paying you to tweet photos of their luggage?

Fantastic. Give someone a chance to rob said traveler. Gee, it’s a total mystery why so many people distrust TSA and think you overstep boundaries. Thanks for the pic. Thieves at the next airport appreciate the info. Were you asked to publicly post this person’s private property to social media or did you decide to post on your own?

Well, she does have a point there. I'd at least close the zipper so the money doesn't fall out.

"...because we are either going to lose it or steal it!" is what she is effectively saying.

Disgusting. It's almost like she is saying, "can you believe someone used our transporting business to transport something valuable because we suck? LOL OMG! hashtag love wins" or whatever. Geez.

Actually I was wondering if it was illegal to carry cash in a suitcase, and would anyone trust the USPS to deliver that package. As for me, I’d want to keep it close!

I’m surprised they didn’t confiscate it as being evidence of a crime just because it’s cash.

Only Clintons are allowed to have bags of cash. Not citizens.

I’d insure it for 100K (cost of paperwork you know) and ship it.

Back when The Department of Homeland Security and the TSA was new, I was departing Las Vegas and had TSA pull my carry-on bag for additional screening after going through the X-Ray machine. They did not allow me to be present as they examined the bag behind a partition. When I got back to L.A. the bank deposit bag I had my cash in was missing the seven 100 dollar bills I had put in it.

Thankfully, I had taken my poker winnings and paid off my brother for the airfare and car rental for that vacation before I left Vegas.

Apparently, the scam they run is to look for a collection of coins on the x-ray machine, and the “additional screening” goes RIGHT FOR THE HONEYPOT.

Never again.

I read that “another government agency” DID confiscate the cash!

Leadership.... something we just don’t have.

I just dealt with the lack of leadership today. When people don’t know what to do or can’t figure out what is wrong they need to be told.

Nobody is doing this now.

The government is run amok.
